Using Images when Writing for Money

Kenneth Crawford
Whether you write for eHow, Associated Content or other revenue sharing site it is important to get page views. When you are writing for money, every page view puts money in your bank account. It is important to stand out from your competition and a good way to do that is by incorporating free copyright images into your articles and blog posts.

Images, when used properly, can help with your article optimization. They also add quality and appeal to your articles. It has been proven that readers will stay on a page longer when it has images rather than just text. Images also attract more readers as well. This helps in your overall page popularity with the search engines.

First you need to get yourself some free copyright images for your articles. One place to look for images is government Web sites. Some government Web site photographs are public domain and you can use them. Another avenue is to go to places like Flikr or Public Domain to find free copyright images. Most of these places will have rights protected and free copyright images on the site. Be sure that you are using the creative commons pictures. Of course do not forget about the most unique free copyright images available...your own.

Save images to your computer in a folder either on your desktop or other location. Optimization comes into play when saving your photographs. When saving an image for a particular article use the keyword you are focusing on as the file name for the picture. This will help with the optimization as well as give your article extra curb appeal.

You do not want to put captions in your images unless it is necessary. The reason is that you do not want to appear to be keyword stuffing. The search engines hate that, especially Google. If there is a need to explain what a picture is then by all means put it in the caption. However if the photo is obvious then just leave the caption out.

Incorporate images throughout your article and blog posts without over doing it. This can be tricky especially for longer pieces. I try to use no more than three images within an article. Usually one up front, one about midway through the article, and one at the end.

When you are writing for money you need to do all that you can to separate yourself from your competition. Start utilizing free copyright images in your articles and get more page views, more traffic and ultimately more revenue.
