Halloween is the horrific holiday to dress up in heavy robes, weird cloth costumes, lather up in thick make-up or encase ourselves in sweaty latex masks. It's a traditional party time and it's a real blast, but it can also be a real chore. It's a time consuming balancing act demanding days or even weeks of preparation, artistic design, and loads of time dressing up. Then comes the post party, trick or treat tiresome clean up. At the end of a long day, we tiredly slip off costumes, remove make-up and greasepaint from our faces and bodies, or change back the little monsters in our lives into normal monster kids again.
There's an easier, quicker and cleaner way. Go digital!
Just as digital technology transformed the workplace, school study and home entertainment, it can give a whole new meaning to dressing up for Halloween. Digital dress up that is and it's never been easier, cheaper or more fun to digitally dress up as most anything you can think of, dream fondly over or fantasize about in your creative musings.
Digital Photo Keychains
Call them digital picture key chains or photo keychains, the keyword here is keychain. These tiny photo displaying wonders are 1.5 inches of mobile photo power. A quick browse online and you'll find tons of them to choose from on sites like Amazon or Ebay. Big brand names like HP, Sony or Coby make them in all sorts of colors and memory sizes. The price range is $29.99 to $9.99, but I have even found cheaper versions in dollar stores, for under $9.99. The real beauty of this price range selection is though you may get some more battery life out of more expensive models, the display technology is very similar and does the job no matter the price.
The costume accessory advantage of these incredibly lightweight and portable LCD displays are clear. With even the low end models enabling storage of up to 60 photos at once, the possibilities are endless when it comes to the variety of moods and effects you can create. The keychain itself lends itself easily to attaching to most any kind of clothing, or even to the body itself - on fingers or even as improvised earrings. Imagine a pirate with skull and cross bone earrings which flash and change with the little treasure hunter's mood.
Demonic Or Delightful - You Decide
Does your little one want to be a princess this year? Maybe a Powerpuff Girl or even Dora The Explorer? Maybe your son loves Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. No matter the character, a digital photo keychain can bring it to life.
One of the coolest features of these devices is a sideshow function. With most having a setting of normal, slow or fast, you decide the speed of the photo show. This not only allows variety, but offers some primitive animation capability. Shoot a few photos of a bug crawling around and then load up the photos in order. Depending on the speed of the slideshow, the bug will appear to crawl around digitally. At dollar store prices of less than ten bucks, you can afford to buy more than one and string them about the costume strategically. With a little creative photo shopping and clever slideshow timing, you can display all sorts of animated horror or delight.

Post a CommentFantastic idea! Perfect for the season. I want want of these LCD keychains, thanks for the info.
What a cool idea. This would be fun for almost teens/teens when they hit the age that they're no inclined to dress up anymore.
