Using the Logitech QuickCam Deluxe for Notebooks

Small and Thin with Great Picture and Sound

I needed to get my hands on a webcam, when my job situation recently changed to a telecommuting position.

I had my notebook computer, but as it was one I have had for quite a while, it did not include a webcam. So I had to go shopping.

My experience with webcams has not been the best. I had purchased a couple a few years ago (not Logitech, maybe that was my mistake) and sent one to my parents, and set one up on my end. The images I received were grainy, and I got a lot of stop and start. It worked, but not as well as I had imagined.

I found the Logitech QuickCam Deluxe at Best Buy for $49.99. This was perfect for what I needed not only did it give good resolution at 640 x 480, but it also has a built in microphone.

I got the Logitech QuickCam Deluxe home, and had it set up in no time. Not only was it easy to get up and running with it, but the CD had links for Skype, and a 30 day trial of Logitech Video Call.

The Logitech QuickCam Deluxe has a glass lens, which allows for much better refraction and light sensitivity than plastic lenses.

The Logitech QuickCam Deluxe has RightLight ™ technology which gives you great picture quality, and captures fine detail even under low light levels.

The Logitech QuickCam Deluxe also has RightSound ™ technology on the integrated microphone, which is great for eliminating echoing, and background noise.

I got the Logitech QuickCam Deluxe hooked up, and attended my first web meeting. After my experience with webcams in the past, I really didn't expect much.

The picture quality on the Logitech QuickCam Deluxe was much better than I expected. The clarity and light level looked relatively natural. I have since played around with it, experimenting with different light levels, to see what will work, and what won't. For the most part, I don't have to go to any great lengths with lighting to be seen on the other end. There is little shadowing, and you can even tell what color shirt I have on.

I have to use Skype for my job. I have double checked with people on the other end, and I am told that they can see me just fine, and the sound quality is crystal clear as well. The Logitech QuickCam Deluxe is very impressive and works great. I would recommend it to anyone who has a need for a Webcam for their n
