Using Marzetti Salad Dressing to Jazz Up Your Meal

Joanne Eglash

Bottled salad dressings often fail when it comes to the "taste test" challenge. I may sound like Goldilocks sampling the three bears' porridge, but I frequently complain that these dressings are too salty, or too watery, or bland. Marzetti new Simply Dressed salad dressing, however, meets my "just right" criteria. Nicely seasoned, with a pleasing consistency and flavor, this brand is ideally suited for salads as well as vegetables. An additional plus: it's exceptionally healthy, without corn syrup or artificial ingredients. What it does contain: extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, and canola oil, giving you omega-3 benefits.

Try these tips to savor it yourself:

  • Steam a variety of fresh, chopped vegetables, such as broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, bok choy, and crookneck squash. Arrange in a large bowl, then pour your favorite flavor of Marzetti salad dressing over your veggies. I love the new Simply Dressed Ranch dressing in particular. Serving at a festive gathering? Top with chopped black olives and a sprinkle of croutons.
  • Make a meal from a salad with this healthy option. In a large salad bowl, cut up a variety of lettuces, such as Romaine and leafy green. Next up: a layer of sliced fresh tomatoes, diced carrots, and a few sliced radishes for a zesty taste. Now comes the layer of protein that makes this a meal. Got left-over cold chicken in the fridge? Take off the skin and slice up the cold chicken for your protein. This method also works for left-over roast beef. If you're a fish lover, open a can of tuna or salmon, drain, and sprinkle over your veggies. Fabulous with Marzetti Simply Dressed Balsamic dressing.
  • If you're out of fresh vegetables but want to serve a vegetable dish, turn "boring" canned vegetables into a taste treat by combining several varieties. Canned green beans mixed with whole canned tomatoes and a small can of sliced mushrooms, for example, become flavorful in just a few steps. Refrigerate until cold. Slice up the tomatoes, and use the "sauce" from the can to mix up the ingredients. Top with Marzetti Simply Dressed salad dressing and place green olives on top.
