Using MySpace to Market Your Business

Rebecka Whitlock
Myspace is growing more popular everyday. Everyone that you know has a MySPace page, and they log on at least once a day to interact with others. Using MySpace to market your business is not a bad idea.

Whether your business is old or new, you will find that promoting your business on MySpace can increase your sales as well as recruits. With the many different people that have MySpace pages, you are going to find a large variety to network with, and this makes spreading the word about your business or company even easier.

For example, if you have a business that sells quilting supplies, you can very easily locate the MySpace users that have "quilting" listed as one of their hobbies. Simply drop those users a line and request to add them to your MySpace page as a friend. When the user logs on to their MySpace account and sees your request, out of curiosity they are going to visit your MySpace profile and see what you have to offer. This is a sure fire way to let interested parties know all about your business by using MySpace as a marketing tool.

Another great way to use MySpace to market your business is to post bulletins to your friends on MySpace and let them know about any deals that you are offering from your business as well. Don't forget that when you comment on someone's page, you can also leave a link to your website and other users will see it as well.

Using MySpace to market your business is free, and easy. All MySpace accounts are free to use, and friends on MySpace are very easy to make. Use the bulletin feature to make others aware of any specials that you are promoting, as well the blog that MySpace offers you on your page. Blogging about your business and new products or services that you are offering is a great way to get the word out. With the blogging feature on MySpace, it will be right there linked to your page, and anyone that visits will be able to read all about it.

As you can see, there are so many ways to use MySpace as a marketing tool for your business venture. Whether you are promoting a service or products, you are sure to find someone on MySpace that will be interested in it. Just remember to keep it professional, and you can sit back and watch your business grow.

While I see what you mean about marketing, these are the exact reasons why I DON'T visit other people's page and have the option to not get messages from nonfriend users. I think it's completely irritating and selfish to start plugging your business away on someone else's page. Out of courtesy, the businessowner should ask that person if it's okay to post a link to their business. I used to just delete those comments but now I have it so sewed up that only people I want to be in my friends list can contact me and I deleted the option to leave profile comments altogether. That's like going into McDonald's with a Burger King bag, especially if you two are in direct competition.

Nice article about myspace promoting an online business! I am a scrapbooking consultant and just got a website through my company and I'm trying to find some great ways to market my business online. I do have the link posted on my "my space" page, but I never thought about searching for people who are interested in scrapbooking and sending them a friend invite. Great idea! I enjoyed reading your article. By the way, I also live in West Monroe. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see a list of other AC writers in West Monroe. Then your article caught my attention. Great job!
