Using Public Seaking to Promote Your Business

How to Use Speaking to Market

Chris Knight
Public speaking can boost a starting or struggling business by a huge amount. If you are a public speaker, or have incredible public speaking skills, then maybe you will want to consider this aspect of building relationships.

Remember that since you are voicing your speech to hundreds and potentially thousands of people, you will be the main influence on how your audience will feel about your business. In order to promote your business with public speaking; you have to get your foot in the door by building relationships; learn how to talk about your business during the speech; and learn how to use the internet as well.

Start Networking - Build Relationships
You will want to start attending public events related to the business you are promoting. For example, if you are selling cars, then you may want to go to car expositions, and things of that nature. If you own a computer software type business, you will want to attend computer events. You will want to start build building relationships with a huge variety of people.

You will want to approach people by coming off as highly friendly and confident, even if you really aren't. Building relationships overtime can help you increase your plethora of contacts. You never know, some of these people may need you to speak at a public even they may be hosting. Start building relationships now!

Another great thing you can do for you and your business is to start handing out business cards as well. Not only is this an incredible way to get your name out there, but you can also have people easily contact you as well. Be sure to not ignore this aspect of business promotion.

Speak, but seldom talk about your business
During the speech, you will want to deliver a message that is related to your business. It can be a distant relation, but a relation nonetheless. For example, if your business relates to the subject of marine biology, then you may want to speak on a topic similar to this. If your business is closely related to something entirely different; you may want to avoid this topic to speak on.

During the speech, it is all right to make references to your business; however, you do not want to market it. For example, since your business may be about "phone accessories", you will want to make references during your speech such as, "While working on my phones for my business..." instead of "Buy my phones now! Discounted cheap!" This can actually turn people away, as you may come off as a money hungry shark.

After you finally wrap up your speech, you may have time allotted or, you may make time to advertise your business a little bit. You can say things such as, "Go to the back if you want more information on phone accessories", or something related to that nature.

Conclusion
Starting relationships, getting invited to public speaking, and learning how to market your business during the speech is a great way to achieve business success. Just make sure that you do not ignore the power of the internet either! It is the one of the greatest Medias in the history of man-kind. Do not be afraid of starting a website or blog, where you can update people on your activities, events, and provide them with any new products you may be promoting.
