Using Snack Credits at Disney World's Magic Kingdom

Disney World Dining Plan

Jennifer Maxwell
With the increasing popularity of Disney World's dining plan, guests are eating more and more snack items as they enjoy everything the "world" has to offer. The new Quick Service dining plan and the Deluxe dining plan both allow for two credits per person, per day. The regular dining plan offers one credit per person, per day. Either way, the credits add up and really allow guests to enjoy treats beyond the traditional popcorn, Mickey ice cream bars and chips. In a series of articles, I will be making some recommendations for finding some great snacks for snack credit use in all four Disney parks, at Downtown Disney and in the resorts.

The Magic Kingdom is the park where it all began. The draw of Cinderella's castle and Main Street USA bring millions of guest to this park every year. In order to determine the best places, to snack, we'll start on Main Street and then go counterclockwise around the park.

Immediately to your right as you make your way down Main Street USA towards the castle, you will encounter the Confectionery. An old fashioned candy shop, the Confectionery is filled many items you can purchase with your snack credits. Choose from most of the prepackaged candy offerings priced under $4. But look behind the glass case to bring home blocks of deliciously flavored handmade fudge, large handmade chocolates and nuts, cookies, and caramel apples. This is a great place to stop at the end of your Magic Kingdom day to purchase treats to keep in the room during your stay.

Another gem on Main Street is the Main Street Bake Shop. Here you can choose from enormous cinnamon rolls, fruit turnovers, cheesecakes, bread pudding, and many more assorted pastries. For a non baked spin, try fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits, and smoothies. But the absolute best option is the cookie ice cream sandwich. Select your choice of cookie flavors, and watch as the cast member fills the oversized cookies with three or four scoops of ice cream. A fantastic value and an amazing snack big enough to share! And if ice cream is your snack of choice, pop in to the Main Street Ice Cream Shop to pick out a dish or cone of Edy's ice cream.

Moving counterclockwise around the castle into Tomorrowland brings out a few more options. Auntie Gravity's offers up frozen yogurt smoothies or soft serve ice cream cups and cones. The Lunching Pad has soft pretzels with either spicy cheese or cream cheese filling. Both areas also offer cold drinks.

Fantasyland begins with the Enchanted Grove, where you can purchase raspberry lemonade slushies, iced cappuccino and floats, orange juice and lemonade. Scuttle's Cove offers soft pretzels and muffins and the counter service Pinnochio's Village Haus has a few items on their menu, including chocolate cake and cannolis.

In Liberty Square, a market is available with fresh fruit including grapes, oranges, apples, bananas and watermelon. For those looking for something a little more decadent, Sleepy Hollow has funnel cakes sprinkled with powdered sugar, soft serve ice cream and chilly cappuccino floats.

Moving into Adventureland, the Sunshine Tree Terrace sells cookies, floats, citrus swirls and slushes for your enjoyment and Aloha Isle offers up the pineapple soft serve Dole Whip, pineapple spears and Dole Whip floats.

Carts are found throughout the entire park where you can pick up soda, bottled water, Powerades, ice cream novelties and popcorn for snacking.

The Magic Kingdom is a wonderful place to use your snack credits with an almost unlimited range of amazing treats. So head to the heart of the magic and taste a little Disney!
