Using The Stick As a Recovery Tool

Quenton Kappids
The Stickā„¢ is a recovery tool that every runner or serious athlete should own. It has handles on either end, with plastic spindles in the middle to knead into your muscles. It is great to use after running, to increase flexibility and to get rid of latent lactic acid. This helps you to recovery after running, helping you to get ready for your next workout. It can also be used before running to help warm up the muscles. In just a few minutes, the blood will be flowing to them like you just ran a few miles.

There are many different sizes and types of Sticks to suit everyone. They differ both by length and firmness to be used on different body parts. Some of the names are: Big Stick, Power Stick, Sprinter Stick, and Marathon Stick. The lengths of the different versions range from 14 inches to 30 inches long. The site has a tool to find which version is for you, depending on your body type and what you will use it for.

An instructional DVD is available to show you how to use your Stick. It can be bought for only $6.50 with the purchase of a Stick. Having used The Stick, I would say that the DVD would be unnecessary, as it is a very easy product to use. You know where your sore spots are, so you can focus on them as much as you need to.

In addition to the tradition Sticks, the company also manufactures a FootWheel and a TriggerWheel. The Footwheel is a roller to ease soreness in the feet, or to ease the pain of the common running condition Plantar Fasciitis. The TriggerWheel is a very small wheel, connected to a handle, to be rolled over specific areas which are either too small or in difficult areas to reach with The Stick.

The site also features Systems, which are packs of multiple items. There are two of these systems, with each of them featuring two different Sticks, both of the Wheels, and the instructional DVD. Buying all of the items together like this is much cheaper than if you were to purchase them each separately.

If you are looking for something to take you to the next level in your running, look no further. Just as important as the work you put in is how well you recover. By using The Stick to massage your muscles before and after workouts, you will be able to perform better, as the normal post-workout soreness and tightness will be greatly reduced.
