Using Ulcerative Colitis Blogs

Gary Davis
There are as many different ulcerative colitis blogs as there are medications for ulcerative colitis treatment and people who get the urge to start an ulcerative colitis blog. They all serve a purpose, but it is important not to waste your time at ulcerative colitis blogs that are little more than un-researched opinion pages or glorified "chat rooms".

I should define a "blog" as a site where typically people can read comments from other people and post comments themselves. These dialogues or, exchange of information, help people with a particular topic, in this case ulcerative colitis, improve upon there own knowledge. A "blog" is based on the concept that the "sum of the parts are greater than the whole."

I was lucky in that my search for a couple of good ulcerative colitis blogs to find three good sites, all having different styles.

For the person who needs to share their story and gets value from getting to know and read about other people's stories, the ulcerative colitis blog entitled "The Ulcerative Colitis Community Blog Post" is a good fit. You can tell your story; you can read others stories, and, you can join a group.

A different type of ulcerative colitis blog is the "Technorati Ulcerative Colitis Blog". This is not the most specific medical ulcerative colitis blog, but, it has a large variety of information available including regular medical treatment as well as medications and alternative medications. You can also find various media references at that ulcerative colitis blog with comments.

I suppose since I am more of a "traditionalist, the Mayo Clinic Ulcerative Colitis Blog Site is my personal choice and is where I spend the most time.

The Mayo Clinic Ulcerative Colitis Blog Site is more of a medical information site for ulcerative colitis provided by the Mayo Clinic than a typical ulcerative colitis blog. The Ulcerative Colitis Blog Site deals with such information as signs and symptoms of ulcerative colitis; the causes of ulcerative colitis; the risk factors of ulcerative colitis; and, when it is time to seek treatment. Again, these are not approaches the typical ulcerative colitis blog will take.

Further information at the Mayo Clinic Ulcerative Colitis Blog Site includes where to seek treatment for ulcerative colitis; alternative treatments for ulcerative colitis; and, finally, coping skills, complications and self-care.

At the Mayo Clinic Ulcerative Colitis Blog Site, I am able to get numerous articles from leading doctors for free.

Why do people go to ulcerative colitis blog sites as opposed to strictly informational sites? After reading posts from people with more severe cases, I have to believe it is as much for emotional relief as medical knowledge. After all, cancer patents (as well as their oncologists), will tell you that emotional stability and attitude are major components in defeating the disease.

Certainly starting an ulcerative colitis blog is an honorable cause.

One major value of all the ulcerative colitis blogs available is that people start them based on the type of ulcerative colitis that they have; you are able to learn a lot about a number of different aspects of ulcerative colitis; both with respect to severity, location and treatment.

An ulcerative colitis blog is just another weapon in the arsenal of the ulcerative colitis sufferer.
