Using a Workaholic Mom's Personality, Job to Pick the Perfect Mother's Day Gift

Mothers these days are often hardworking, multitasking, high-powered and driven workaholics. They love their children just as much as any other mom, and they find creative ways to be supportive and to spend time with their families and mind their businesses, too. Whether your mom is an office worker, health professional, executive, runs her own business from home or is driven by any other kind of work, consider her personality as well as her profession to choose a Mother's Day gift that she will love.

If your mother would appreciate a practical gift best, consider getting her a Bluetooth headset for her cellphone. Mom can carry on phone conversations while typing, signing papers, or doing any number of other things simultaneously. A small digital recorder for recording her thoughts on the go is another thoughtful idea, or a new PDA to help her stay organized. If she attends a lot of meetings, a handsomely designed briefcase or computer case might suit her business style. To add a little fun to her busy day, choose a new MP3 player with speakers or earphones so that she can listen to her favorite music as she works. For some moms, CDs of nature sounds, such as bird calls or ocean waves, or quiet instrumental music might help create a welcoming yet unobtrusive office ambiance.

For a more personal touch, how about something to help her relax and de-stress after her busy day? A foot massage kit or spa kit would be a thoughtful gesture, or a coupon for a massage, manicure and pedicure, or facial. For a real splurge, a coupon for an entire spa day would be a wonderful reward for all her hard work.

Consider gifts to make her office more personalized and comfortable, such as aromatherapy candles or new silver-framed family photos for her desk. Or go to a print company online like Zazzle or Cafe' Press and create a calendar for her with family pictures. Another choice for her desk might be a coffee mug or mouse pad printed with a favorite family photo or inspirational saying. Again, these can be done at online print on demand companies such as Zazzle easily and inexpensively, and make truly unique gifts.

Gift certificates are often considered impersonal, but for a workaholic mom gift certificates to her favorite restaurants could be godsends. What could be better than a chance to go out for dinner rather than hurrying home to prepare a meal after a hectic day? Slip the certificate inside a beautiful card and attach it to a bottle of wine or box of chocolates, or a favorite CD.

So show your mom you love her this Mother's Day and that you appreciate the hard work she does with a thoughtful gift that acknowledges her workaholic ways as well as the loving bond you share.
