Utah Black History Month Events 2010

There are several events in Utah that recognize and celebrate Black History Month. One of those events is called "Utah's African History: Storytelling Through Art and Craft." The exhibit includes artifacts, family heirlooms, and art drawn from Utah's African and African American Communities. The exhibit runs January 14-March 1, 2010. The location of this Black History Month exhibit is 1355 West 3100 South West Valley City. Call (801)965-5100.

The Grand Theater located at 1575 South State Street Salt Lake City, will be performing "Having Our Say." It is a performance about the life of the Delaney Sisters' first 100 years. It shows the viewpoint of the Delaney Sister's from slavery to civil rights. The play is in honor of Black History Month. Call (801)957-3322 to purchase tickets.

Westminister College in Salt Lake City will be hosting several events commemorating Black History Month. Some of the events include: "Many Steps" documentary, "ICYIZERE: Hope Documentary", and African American Spirituals. For more details call Krista DeAngelis at (801)832-2682.
