Utah's Skinwalker Ranch, Part Two

Skinwalker Ranch's new owners saw two strange wolves upon moving to the remote piece of land. The strange creature sightings would not stop with wolves. On several occasions, dark bipedal creatures roughly nine feet tall were seen on the ranch. Some have made a connection between these tall beings and the legendary Bigfoot.

Another creature, which walked on all fours and had curly red hair, was seen once attacking one of the family's horses. When the husband approached the mysterious animal, it disappeared before his very eyes.

Perhaps most disturbing, and strange, was an encounter one visitor to the ranch had with a creature described as being like something out of the Predator movies. The form of the creature was blurry, almost completely invisible, and moved with lighting speed. As if that were not enough, it also roared loudly like a bear.

Cattle Mutilations

To add to the strange paranormal events occurring on Skinwalker Ranch, cattle started turning up dead. It was not just the fact the cows were killed, but the manner in which they were found: no blood in the body, organs surgically removed, etc. Theories have revolved around aliens and even the Chupacabra, but nobody knows for sure who, or what, was responsible for the killings.

In one incident, a calf was killed during a 45 minute window it was left alone. The calf, which weighed 84 pounds, had no organs left in its mid section. The ranch owner quickly ruled out a predator attack. There were no signs of a struggle in the dirt surrounding the dead calf, there was not even a drop of blood on the ground, and the animal looked as if it had been cut open with instruments and not teeth.

A total of 14 cows were found dead or disappeared without a trace. Some had the blood and various organs removed with surgical precision. One cow had an 18 inch diameter core cut out of it, as if it were an apple, with no blood spilled on the ground. The rancher noticed a strange musk smell present around the bodies of the dead cows, as if some other animal had performed the killings. What kind of an animal could kill without spilling blood, and remove organs as if it were a surgeon of some sort was and remains a complete mystery.

Once the rancher found four prize bowls stuffed inside a cattle trailer. The animals were all asleep and stuffed into the trailer like sardines. The device securing the trailer's door was still in place when the rancher found his bulls.

The Billionaire

The extravagant Las Vegas, Nevada billionaire Robert Bigelow caught wind of the rancher family's predicament and made them an offer nobody could refuse. Bigelow bought the ranch and the family agreed to stay as caretakers. Skinwalker Ranch became Bigelow's paranormal lab, a place where Bigelow hired and sent groups of scientists to study the incredible and varied paranormal phenomena taking place in Eastern Utah.

Bigelow is famous for his Bigelow Aerospace company, which is working to establish space stations and commercial space flights. Some thinks Bigelow lives a life of science fiction, but similar accusations have been leveled at other inventors ahead of their time.

One of Bigelow's hired scientists, an immunologist named Colm Kelleher, and the only journalist ever allowed access to Skinwalker Ranch, George Knapp, wrote a book called Hunt for the Skinwalker. The book is the closest the group of scientists Bigelow hired has come to publishing any results from their scientific studies. In the book, Kelleher explains the frustrating efforts of trying to gather valid scientific data about the ranch's activities. Sophisticated recording devices were set up by the scientists around the ranch, only to be systematically destroyed in a way no data could be recovered. Many of the paranormal events on the ranch happen only a few times, making it impossible for the scientists to study the events in depth. For example, once the scientists found not a crop circle, but an ice circle made on the ground at the ranch. Another time they witnessed what they could only explain was like a rectangular portal that opened just above the ground.

The book tells the story of some Vernal area residents and their experiences seeing UFOs in the sky. Kelleher explains the group explored a myriad of possible explanations for the strange activity on the ranch, including hoaxes, experiments being run at the nearby army base, and hallucinations. It still remains a mystery why the ranch in Utah is such a hotbed of paranormal activity.

If you are planning on visiting Skinwalker Ranch to witness some of the paranormal phenomena yourself, do not bother going. The ranch is private property and is kept under watch. Any trespassers will be charged, so please do not go to the ranch uninvited. You may want to check out the many recreational areas around Vernal, where there is the possibility that on a clear night you will see something inexplicable in the sky.
