There is no logical explanation for inserting utensils handle down into the utensil holder in the dishwasher because they will, undoubtedly, become dirty when one proceeds to remove said utensils from the dishwasher. The fact that a manual can coerce people to act in a totally illogical fashion is baffling to me. Time and time again, I have encountered people of all walks of life who, haphazardly, insert utensils into dishwashers with no regard for the reality of cleanliness. Cleanliness does not reside in some vacuum written in a manual. No, cleanliness is a real, true and actual fact or fiction of life. The fact is, no matter how clean a utensil temporarily is when cleaned with the handle inserted downward, that utensil will always become dirty when a hand proceeds to grab the utensil from the dishwasher in order to put it away.
On the other hand, if a utensil is cleaned with its' handle open to access, then it will never be prone to people's dirty hands touching them. Granted, I try to maintain a certain level of sanity when emptying the dishwasher, however, as things go, hands are generally one of the most dirty things on can come across. They are everywhere all the time, touching all sorts of random items, that may have been anywhere and in anything. Therefore, I'm willing to compromise the slight amount of cleanliness provided by utensils being pointed downward (with the handle upwardly accessible) for the cleanliness ensured by not having people's grubby hands all over them. Maybe it's just me, but that just really grinds my gears. Sometimes I wonder if some people are put on this Earth merely to create fodder for my writing.
