Boll's latest film "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale" opened up to only $3 million. The film cost $70 million to make. This isn't the first flop for Boll, both "Alone in the Dark" and "Blood Rayne" bombed badly in the USA.
This bomb makes it impossible for Uwe Boll to make anymore big budget films.
"In the future, I will focus on small films such as Postal or Tunnel Rats,"' he said. "These are films that represent my true passion, and they can be done with small budgets." the German director commented.
Boll has been able to finance his big budget films through German tax shelter funds. This will be the last film to be bankrolled by this fund due to all being now banned in Germany.
So how will the infamous Uwe Boll now finance his films? The old school way. He will pre-sell distribution rights on a country by country basis.
"Because of the Boll reputation, it is not easy to get audiences into the cinemas. We finally managed it, and we are quite satisfied with the abut 250,000 people who watched the movie (in Germany). We proved that you can make money with a Boll film." said Mychael Berg, head of distribution at Fox in Germany, which released "In the Name of the King" locally.
Boll is best known (or most hated) for his video game adaptations. He directed adaptations of House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Blood Rayne (in which he directed a sequel to it and is planning another), Dungeon Siege, Postal and is planning adaptations of Far Cry, Zombie Massacre and has been rumored to be attached to direct Hunter: The Reckoning.
Boll is most infamous for staging a boxing match for the Internet critics of his films. He fought and won all five matches.
Boll has said he won't direct another big budget film and will stick to low budget ones.
Boll's next film "Postal" will be released in February and he has also completed a non video game adaptation horror film called "Seed".
In the end, there's more Uwe Boll to come.
Come on Uwe Boll fans/haters do you want to see more Uwe Boll films? Comment Below!

Post a CommentFunny thing is that Uwe is a very smart man, as all of his films turn a profit after International and DVD sales. I have met him a few times and been on the set for Postal and Far Cry. He has a very professional crew, they love working for him, and he gets many of his performers to return for future films. He does get some very bad press as it was revealed that many critics rate his films a zero on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes without even seeing them. His films are not classics of cinema, but I have seen films with larger budgets from major studios that were worse and his recent stuff is much better than his earlier work. He told me that people expect "Schindlers List" when he is making a Zombie film. Truth is, with the huge sales he does on DVD, someone is watching it.
No............
Please PLEASE dont destroy Far cry!!! >.<
Far cry does not deserve TORTURE...
Anyways i know why he wastes money.......
HE ALWAYS put random stuff in. I mean, In the name of the king:
"Ohhhhh Were in a perfectly english forest with a lot of ENGLISH people! Nothing Japanese like NINJAS can come in!"
Well, Ninjas they are -.-
Jeez. Has he ever heard of putting things were they belong....
"Ooooh we need more CARCHASES!!!!"
"b-but we already have 50000..."
"Oh thats ok....WE NEED MORE -.-"
BOLL CAN MAKE MORE FILMS AND HE SHOULD MAKE NINJA ASSAULT MOVIE.
I said alot of horrible things to Mr Boll alot of years ago but I.m really sorry Mr Uwe Boll I don't want to want to say horrible things to you anymore,He should do more low budget films like making another game with Ninja Assault, the film will be as Big Trouble In Little China
as the story sets out in feudal Japan 1620 when an evil master has kidnapped two girls Princess Koto and Siann and sets to marry them for his dark resurrection.Guren,Gunjo and Aoi join forces with Amercian merchant Jack Allen to head at the Kagai Castle to hunt down spider warriors and spider demons and hunts Kagai down at all cost.
Ninja Assault will be a $14 million to be filmed in Canada and Michael Roesch and Peter Scheerer will write the script for the movie.
Thank You.

They gave him $70 million to make "In The Name Of The King?" WTF??!!! That just blows my mind.
Great article - I can't say that I'm a fan of Boll's work - though "In The Name Of The King" did look interesting....
