V TV Series 2009 Brings Visitors Back to TV

Robert Dougherty
The V 2009 TV series carries a lot of expectations, and not just because the V TV series 2009 is a remake of a sci-fi classic. V is the last fall 2009 TV series, and one of ABC's hopes for a post-Lost sci-fi franchise. However, it will take the V TV series 2009 version some time to break out, since it will only run for several weeks before going on break, and is already changing management. Therefore, the V 2009 TV series version has to get off to a blazing start tonight, and make as much of a first impression as the evil Visitors.

For decades, V has lived on in books, mini-series and TV movies. Its story of aliens who promise peace, but really plan for our extermination, becomes more and more relevant every year. For the new V TV series version, the premise remains the same, only with more flashy effects and a new cast of human characters.

Along with the established V audience, fans of Lost, Firefly and The 4400 will have reason to tune in. Elizabeth Mitchell, last seen destroying time and Sawyer's heart on Lost, now gets to be the lead as an FBI agent who discovers the truth behind the Visitors. Morena Baccarin, from the cult favorite Firefly, is the face of V as the Visitors' seemingly benevolent leader. Joel Gretsch from USA's The 4400 is a doubting priest, with Scott Wolf as a TV reporter.

The V TV series 2009 is ABC's second attempt at finding the new Lost this fall. FlashForward was their first attempt, and is still trying to get into a groove. However, FlashForward does have a full season, and will get to reveal in full what happens on April 29, 2010. V, on the other hand, has more early difficulties to overcome.

Originally, V was supposed to premiere in early 2010 with the return of Lost, then in late 2009. It got moved up to November sweeps, but it will only air for four weeks before going on break. After that, it won't return until March, so even if the V TV series gets some momentum going in 2009, it will have to reestablish itself again in 2010. When that happens, there will already be a new mastermind in charge.

There have already been reports of the series having to reshoot material, and change show runners. Today, it was reported that Scott Rosenbaum, who wrote and produced on Chuck, will run the show when it returns for new episodes. The V TV series pilot was written by 4400 creator Scott Peters, but rumors had it that he was already replaced by Angel producer Jeff Bell.

No matter who runs the V TV series after 2009, they have to hope that they inherit a winning formula. The show has respectable reviews thus far, with an average 71 out of 100 rating on Metacritic. But the Visitors have to face even more unstoppable opponents than humans - NCIS and The Biggest Loser. If it can survive those foes for four weeks, it can hopefully get a more favorable timeslot next spring.

But it all starts with the Visitors once again making first contact with inspired and suspicious humans. The V TV series 2009 invades at 8 p.m. est on ABC.

This is a little off subject, but maybe if the V show had better music it would be more fun to watch. There is a song by The Tunesmith's Apprentice titled "Visitors" that the show should use.

"Tirade of blame"? I fail to see how a few observations about a television program is a "tirade". You, VFan, should reread your post to see what an actual tirade is. You should also chill out a little or the next three years are going to be very long ones for you.

VFan you are another left-winger who is not looking at reality. Barada is very accurate. As the series continues, the parallels between Anna and Barack Hussein Obama (mmm mmm mmm) are amazing. The words "hope" and "change" are rampant throughout the dialogue when speaking about the Visitors. Also, universal health care and the worshiping and devotion by many of the Visitors is very similar to the worship of Obama by black racists and liberals of all races, especially self-loathing white liberals. Also, the sleeper cell element brings to the surface the belief that some of us have that Obama is a Muslim sleeper agent trying to destroy America. This would explain his bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia and his hostility toward Israel and friendliness toward Iran. It does seem however, that the main reporter is more skeptical of the Visitors than the mainstream media is of Obama. I am shocked that ABC is allowing this to air on its network, considering how liberal Disney is. With

Sorry Barada perhaps you need to return to your right-winged Fox News Network for your unreliable slanted news & entertainment rather than regular TV viewing. Get off the soapbox & let me warn you people are tired of sore loser conservatives taking pot-shots and using the tired scenarios of "let's blame Obama for everything."
V (2009) and V (1984 orig.) are TV series meant for entertainment. And its done a wonderful job so far. If writers use something amusing, poignent or ironic out of everyday life then so be it. Everyone from Shakespeare to the endless line of Classics have done it prior to this series. Taking societies frailties, fears, hopes and dreams is just the beginning of their plotlines and what makes them timeless!
So if you'd like to engage in a tirade of blame lets look back, shall we, at the past president? Which is quite ironic since 8 years of Bush is chock full of entertainment value, mostly sad truths brought to light and some which just left us shaking our

I'm sorry, but despite the comments of "hope," "universal health care," & "afraid of change," I do not see this science FICTION series as any kind of reference to Obama.

I'm 52, & the afore-noted subjects have been off & on repeatedly throughout much of my lifetime.

Granted, more so now that ever.

But still, "allusions" to Obama? NOT!

  • Barada11/3/2009

Wow! I just watched the first episode of V. I couldn't believe the allusions to President Obama with the offer of "hope" and "universal health care" and the fact that "some are afraid of change". The community organizers even reminded me of ACORN. Is this some sort of parody?

If V is going up against NCIS & Biggest Loser, I'll be watching V. I am sick of reality TV and am looking forward to something to watch on Tuesday night. Thanks for trying with V. I was a fan of the original and look forward to see what they do with this updated version. Too bad there will only be 4 episodes before it comes back. I might have forgotten about the series if they wait to long to show again.
