Homes in Westchester New York

Regina Sass
Rye New York is in Westchester County. It is the home of Rye Playland, a major attraction for not only Westchester, but for the entire area, including New York City. Westchester is just north of the Bronx and an easy commute either for the amusement park, or to and from work. There is a Metro North station right in the city and for driving, Rye is near the New England Throughway, I-95 and is right on the Boston Post Road.

There are properties in Rye that are suitable for both vacation homes and year round living. The co ops and condos are unique in both town houses and converted apartment buildings and some of those buildings have to be seen to be believed. They are from a time when buildings were designed to be unique and picturesque. Think of a medieval castle and you will know what some of them look like. The co ops on the high end of the price scale are larger than some of the one family houses. When looking at the co ops and condos, take into consideration the total number of rooms and the sq footage, not only the number of bedrooms. They make a perfect choice for a vacation home.

The houses in Rye New York , both vacation and year round, have good size lots and are very distinctive. No cookie cutter houses here. The ones with the water views tend to be more expensive. Of course, the mansions are in a class by themselves and there are many priced in between the two listed here.

Come up to Rye, New York for a day. It is a nice easy trip and Rye is a great place to visit. Come up and try the restaurants, shop the stores and just walk around. Then take a look at the real estate. Try and see as much as possible in your price range.
