Vacation for Less This Summer and Every Summer

Three Completely Practical Ways to Do So

T. H. Pankey
With the economy as soft as a stale jelly-filled doughnut, yet many persons itching to vacation this summer, and perhaps even more so because of the soft economy, a few short practical tips on vacationing for less this summer and every summer, for that matter, are in order. While some or all of what is about to follow you may already know, ask yourself is what you're reading important enough to you that you've already made the points a matter of practice. Then again, maybe you have already in the past, and what practical points you read will serve more as a reminder than adding anything more or new for use in your personal life. Either way what follows is three completely practical ways to vacation for less this summer.

Vacation for Less This Summer and Every Summer ( Make a Budget )

Many of us actually sit down and form a budget at least once-a-year, or more than likely once-a-month, even as often as once-a-week. The point is just because you're going on vacation that doesn't mean the good planning you do when budgeting throughout the year should be overlooked. Budgeting is what helped you get to be able to have a vacation in the first place. Too, you may find the planning and budgeting will turn out to be just as fun as the trip itself.

Basic budgeting questions: how much money are you going to need to get to wherever you're going; what do you figure the cost will be for food everyday and throughout the vacation; where's the number going to land for where you're going to sleep?

Vacation for Less This Summer and Every Summer ( Choose a Cheap Destination )

When deciding where you want to go to vacation during the summer make it a point to go places that are cheaper to go to during the summer as opposed to more expensive during the summer. When you aim toward cheaper destinations, usually all things associated with getting there, staying there, and doing things there, are cheaper as well. Look around to see what's in low season as opposed to what's hot (more expensive) during the summer. If you time things right, and make it a point year after year to learn what's what for vacationing on the cheap, before long making practical application of getting the most bang for your buck will become second-nature.

Vacation for Less This Summer and Every Summer ( Make and Stick to a Plan )

Not to be taken for granted is the need to exercise a measure of self-control by way of sticking to a plan, even if you're one of those persons who sees vacations as a time to let it all hang out and leave care at home. That is, of course, if you want to vacation for less this summer, and even succeeding summers. If you've ever known someone who just threw caution to the wind when vacationing, and didn't stick to a plan, if a plan was even in place, more often than not, what went hand-in-hand with such an attitude was the later realization that, while care may have been left at home, much more money than expected was left on the vacation.
