A little less than 60 miles north of San Diego and 90 miles southeast of Los Angeles is Temecula Valley Wine Country. Fantastic Rolling hills covered with vineyards, amazing views of 11,000 foot high mountains, fresh ocean breezes, and world-class wines make Temecula Valley Wine County one of California's most beautiful vacation spots.
Well known for its championship golf courses, and beautiful hot-air ballooning adventures, along with award-winning wineries, Temecula's mix of wonderful activities and beautiful scenery makes it a favorite vacation spot for young and old.
Of course you will want to tour the wineries while visiting Temecula. Most wineries are open seven days a week, between 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, and are closed for Christmas, Easter and New Year's Day. But I think you'll find that Temecula has so much more to offer. The warm weather and fresh air make it perfect to take the family for a hike on the Santa Rosa Plateau Wildlife Preserve, or for a day of boating and fishing at Lake Skinner, the site of the annual Balloon & Wine Festival
.
Located in the heart of Temecula, the Old Town district is a nice blend of historic buildings housing over 640 antique dealers, unique shopping, and restaurants. Old Town Temecula is the home of many great events including car shows, Western Days, and summer weekend entertainment such as Bluegrass, and other Musical festivities. How about a ride in a horse-drawn carriage or stroll along the wooden boardwalks? Every Saturday, it's fun to visit the Farmer's Market which offers a wonderful selection of fresh produce, flowers, and crafts. After your done shopping at the fabulous Gift Shops and wineries, Check out the Temecula Valley Museum and discover the many historical treasures of this unique city. The kids will love the wacky inventor Professor Phineas Pennypickle's home-workshop, at the Imagination workshop children's museum. You may want to top off the day with dinner at one of the great local restaurants and an evening out at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater.
Just south of Temecula, the Pechanga Tribe of American Indians operates the Pechanga Entertainment Center and Resort that houses California's largest casino where guests can enjoy gaming, boxing, or concerts.
For more shopping, the Promenade Mall and Power Center offers the convenience of large department store shopping at its best. So as you can see, Temecula is a great place to vacation and an exciting place to visit. It should be at the top of your list of places to go for fun and relaxation.
