The upscale restaurant features a modern design with sophisticated, luxurious fabrics and décor. Each cozy table in the main dining room has a clear view of the calming landscaping just outside. Though it's located near Route 77 on the end of a small shopping plaza, you never notice traffic or hear noise during your dining experience.
The menu includes both classic Italian dishes - sometimes prepared in new, exotic ways - as well as other fare like fresh seafood and steaks. For appetizers, you can't go wrong with the bruschetta sampler, and I've heard many say the stuffed hot banana peppers are a favorite. Speaking from personal experience, the salmon pinwheel is exceptional. I've also tried the grilled grouper served with fingerling potatoes and a "Sicilian style" succotash, as well as the lasagna al carne, which features beef, pork, veal and five cheeses.
The wine and martini lists won't disappoint, either. In fact, Vaccaro's has earned honors from The Best Wine Lists in America competition, including a third place finish in 2007 in the International Wine List category.
The waitstaff is quite knowledgeable and willing to recommend a food and wine pairing or answer any menu-related questions. While not being overbearing, it seems they are always ready to assist diners if needed.
Last, but definitely not least, be sure not to pass up the dessert menu. The made-from scratch tiramisu is exceptional, and the gelato sampler, served in a towering glass with separate dishes for each flavor, is the perfect way to end your meal.
Vaccaro's is the perfect location to entertain business clients or celebrate a special occasion. While you can definitely find cheaper prices elsewhere, (entrees range from about $15 to $35, appetizers from $6 to $14 and desserts average about $7 each), the quality and flavor of the food, added with the welcoming atmosphere and superior service, definitely make the price tag worth it.
For special occasions, be sure to consider the "chef's degustation menu," where the executive chef will create a five course dinner paired with wines. Check the restaurant's Web site, vactrat.com, for more information, as this is only available during certain hours.
Vaccaro's also serves lunch and has an outdoor patio, as well.
