Val Kilmer and Nicolas Cage Can Run but Not Hide from IRS

Carol Whyte
Val Kilmer and Nicolas Cage each owe the IRS some money. Kilmer and Cage have a few things in common besides just that. Both are A-lister actors in Hollywood, both are Capricorns, and apparently, the pair do not care to make right with Uncle Sam.

Kilmer just made news as he owes almost $500,000 in federal taxes. On November 30, the IRS filed a $498,165 lien against Kilmer's property in Sante Fe. Kilmer has lived there for nearly 20 years and first put his ranch on the market in 2009 for around $33 million.

However, since the recession is not prejudice, Kilmer has now lowered his price to $18.5 million perhaps to help pay back his 2008 income tax assessment.

Val Kilmer was originally a stage actor and then made a break in the 1980's in several films including Top Secret and Real Genuis. He's better known for his roles later in Top Gun and Willow.

Nicolas Cage's financial problems aren't new as the troubled actor has been in trouble for quite some time. Cage owes some $14 million in unpaid taxes for 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007.

Cage, who recently starred in Kick Ass, has at least made one payment to the IRS for around $360,000 for back taxes due from 2002 to 2004.

In 2009 Cage had filed a lawsuit against his Samuel Levin who was his former business manager for $20 million for "leading him down the path of financial ruin". Later, however, Cage dropped the suit as did Levin for his counterclaim against Cage for unpaid fees and for the actor not following his advice. (Click here for more on that story.)
