Val Kilmer Wants You to Call Him New Mexico's Governor

Also, Etta James was Just Joking and Heath Ledger's Vanity Fair Picture

Coming down to the end of the week, we've got some good news, interesting news and some-shake-your-head-and-smile news. Landing in the last category is ex-Batman Val Kilmer's announcement that he's considering running for New Mexico's governor. A piece of good news: Etta James was only kidding about those Beyonce and Obama slams. The interesting news is the recent Vanity Fair Hollywood issue that featured a doctored photo of Heath Ledger with his Dark Knight director, Christopher Nolan.

Batman's Headquarters? The N.M. Governor's Mansion

Coming down from the inauguration and obviously tired of playing the voice of K.I.T.T. on "Knight Rider," Val Kilmer has been considering a political move of his own. On Thursday, he told The Associated Press that he just wanted to make "a substantial contribution." If that means running for governor, that's what he'll do. But no decision has been made yet.

The 49-year-old actor has lived in New Mexico for over two decades and is registered as a Democrat. If he should run, he would be pitted against fellow Democrat, Lt. Gov. Diane Denish.

But though he's not even certain if he's going to run, the Top Gun actor is certain about one thing.

"If I run, I'm going to be the next governor."

Let's hope if that happens, it will be better than the last several years of his film career.

Etta James Was Just Kidding!

Though many people were shocked by singer Etta James' recent harsh comments towards Beyonce and President Obama at a concert in Seattle, she says now that she "didn't really mean anything."

She told the New York Daily News that she kept going with the "jokes" because no one in the theater was upset by the comments. But not surprisingly, there was a little grain of truth in there. When asked if she could have outsung Beyonce at the inauguration, she answered in the affirmative.

And as for the comments about Obama?

"He's got other stuff [to worry about] besides Etta James."

That is definitely true, especially with his troubles with the impending stimulus package.

Heath Ledger's Ghost in Vanity Fair

The March issue of Vanity Fair is the Hollywood issue and it was all about Oscar nominated actors and their directors. This included photos by Annie Leibovitz of Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes, Penelope Cruz and Woody Allen, Sean Penn and Gus Van Sant, Heath Ledger and Christopher Nolan.

The photo of Ledger was taken by Leibovitz in 2005 when he was promoting Brokeback Mountain. Nolan was added to the photo digitally. While there is some question of whether or not the photo is in good taste, honestly, it's a beautiful picture.

Ledger is at the right of the photo, slumped in his chair, arms across his chest, somberly looking away from a light shining in his face. Nolan stands in the far left corner, looking towards Ledger. But the most touching aspect of the photo is the distance Ledger places between himself and the camera. That distance is almost heartbreaking.
