Valentine Gifts for New Relationships - Her

Kevin Flynn
Okay so you are in a new relationship. That's great; but for men, Valentines day is tricky enough without the added pressure of a new relationship. Choosing the right gift will show your affection and convey your level of commitment so you need to choose wisely. Basically the gift you choose will let her know how much you care (or don't) care about her. Choose correctly and you won't spend the day in the dog house.

Chocolates

Chocolates are a great non-committal gift. But you can't just get the generic ones in a red heart box. Change it up by selecting a fancy type such as Godiva chocolates. This will show her that you have a sense of style and flair that she may not have known about.

Strawberries

A dozen chocolate dipped strawberries covered with almonds, coconut or other toppings is a classic that you can't go wrong with (provided she likes strawberries). Strawberries in chocolate are perfect to mix romance with seduction. What every you do, avoid getting these at the supermarket. Go down to your local hand made candy store where they will properly place them in a fancy box and wrap them for you.

Flowers

Too early for a dozen red roses??? You can still score big with a bit of careful planning. Be warned, there are more traps in flower picking then in an Indiana Jones movie. Yellow roses mean friendship while gardenias represent secret love. If you don't want to give roses, mix it up by giving her orchids.

Jewelry

Stay away from the diamonds!!! Again jewelry can lead you down a perils pit. Spend too much and she will feel awkward. Spend too little and you will come off as a cheap skate. Try keeping it simple yet sweet with a gold or sterling silver wearable heart-shaped pendant. This gift is perfect for a new relationship (thoughtful but not too serious). For a few extra dollars you can get it engraved (so do it).

Weekend Get Away

If you want to take the relationship to the next level, try booking a weekend at a Bed & Breakfast. There are many B&Bs that bundle activities such as nature walks, museums or wine tours.

Gifts To Avoid

Some gifts to always avoid.... Magazine Subscriptions, vacuums, tools, exercise equipment and of course the classic, pots and pans. I know, as a guy your thinking these are all things she needs, but trust me, these are one way tickets to the dog house.
