Valentine Heart Frame Craft

A Picture Within a Picture

JUNEANN REED
Hearts of all kinds make the basis for most valentine crafts.

Valentines are treasured.

Your mom may have kept the first valentines you received and we know valentines are loved by our our elderly friends and grandparents. The feeling of being loved is important to our well-being. Valentine's day is a great time for personal gifts for your very special loved one.

I am going to help you to make a valentine heart frame that is large enough to frame your face. Little kids could have the frame cut out and they could decorate. But part of the fun for others is the creation of your heart frame.

1. Find a variety of sizes of larger heart shapes. These should be big enough to frame the face or object with ample room to spare.

2. Trace the larger heart on a large piece of heavy paper board, card board or whatever is your choice.

3. Trace a circle the size of your choice inside the heart.

4. Cut the circle from the inside.

4. Cut along the edges of the large heart. You will now have a sturdy frame.

5. Decorate your frame. You may cover the frame with red paper, paint or decorate the frame as you choose. You may want to cover the frame with smaller pink and white valentines, metallics or fabrics, lace doilies, buttons, small pictures or whatever is applicable for your group or for you.

6. Hold your decorated frame in front of your face and have someone take a picture of you. Try close-up shots and some from a distance. It is fun to have a group together or siblings or friends to forward a great valentine greeting to someone you love.

7. This little craft has no limits. Pets, an engagement ring, love note or other ways you'd like to send your love can be framed and forwarded. Small candies could be glued to the frame.

This simple idea would make a great invitation. An example: place the cake inside the heart for the picture. Note my pictures for helps.

This craft is great for grandparents and kids. We did it. We had a great afternoon.
