Valentine for Husband, 1978

sports mama
When the world outside turns its cold, shivery back to you,

remember the warmth of my fire

(which you kindled by caring)

That now burns as slowly and steadily as the oak of your strength.

When your body and mind are weary and cold,

Come rest at my hearth until you are warm.

This poem was written over 30 years ago during some tough economic times. Husband passed away in July, but his spirit is still with me.
