obviously in love
step out of a flower shop
with a bouquet of roses
As he walked past me
I caught the scent
of his cologne
and I thought of you
I saw your face in my mind
easily remembering every feature
from the unique color of your eyes
to the smile of your full lips
I remembered your gentle touch
your loving words
and how you treated me well
even wanting to marry me
But I had wanted something more in life
and I was trying to find it
in the brief moments that our lives
were entwined
I know I broke your heart when I left
and at the time none of it made sense
but I've found what I was looking for
I only wish I hadn't hurt you
I don't regret the choice I made
but I still think of you
wondering what your life is like
where you are and what you are doing
And though our lives took different paths
I hope you found happiness
with someone
that loves you deeply
For you still have a place
in my memories
and my heart could only
want the best for you.
