Start by thinking about your Valentines Care Package in terms of what size box you can afford to mail to your Soldier. From your care package budget, subtract the shipping cost immediately. The most economical shipment of your Valentines care package to the deployed soldier will be using a flat rate mailing box from the post office. If you get the large flat rate APO box, it will cost you a little less than $11 to mail it not counting the insurance cost.
Once you have decided how to pack your Soldier's Valentines care package, you know how much room you have . Sadly you can't fit yourself in the box and ship him the present he would most love to have. Since you can't, you have to send a not quite equal substitute. Start your Soldier care package with a romantic letter reminding him how much you love him and what you love about him. Add a new picture of yourself and one of the kids if you have a family. If he didn't take one with him, send one of your wedding pictures, or a picture of the two of you in the Valentines care package. If you write poetry, write a new one especially for the care package about the romance in your life.
Next in your romantic Valentines care package, buy one of the dipping chocolates in a cup and add it along with some wooden skewers, a bag of marshmallows, and a favorite romantic CD. Add a note to tell him you'll treat him to chocolate dipped fruit and a glass of wine while you share the music together upon his return. Your Soldier will enjoy the promise of the future along with the items you send in the Valentines care package.
In your Soldier's care package you can also send him a little something else to remind him of you. You have to be careful to not break any rules for his deployed location, so sending him your sexy nighty is not a good idea. Instead, spray a bit of your favorite cologne on a pillow case and send him that. Or if you think clothing is better, include one of your small tees on a stuffed animal in your Soldier's Valentines Care Package.
The ideas are only limited by what is permissible for your Soldier to receive and by what you can fit in the Valentines Care package. Take time to consider the romantic things you would do for your Soldier on Valentines if he were home and add some portion of that to the Valentines Care Package.
