The day of hearts does not have to be for couples in love and new lovers only. It is also a day to show our appreciation to those who have contributed much to our lives such as our parents, brothers and sisters, friends, doctors and teachers. Valentine's day is also not exclusively for adults alone. Young children can also celebrate it. And as such, Valentine's day need not necessarily be expensive and costly especially for children and teens who are non-income earning. There are a lot of ways for young school children and teens to make the day special for their loved-ones and it does not really require money. Creating valentine's craft and giving these to parents, friends, family members, teachers and doctors is enough. Here below are some valentine's craft ideas that children can make.

1. Valentine's cards - Valentine's cards are about the most popular craft to create and to give during valentine's day. Valentine's cards uses very ordinary and common school materials such as scissors, paste, crayons, cardboards, paint, paint brush, watercolor, color pens, card board, art papers, and sometimes, some dried flowers or twigs and pictures of the parent, teacher, family member, or friend. Valentine's cards are also very easy to make. Start by choosing a colored cardboard and cutting it up into a shape that you want. Mostly, valentine's cards come in heart shapes and in red colors. But of course, you can be creative. You can use other colors and other shapes. Variations to your valentine's cards can be done by pasting dried rose petals on the cover and forming it into hearts. Photos of the person you are giving it to can also be cut in a heart shape and pasted right into the heart-shaped dried rose petals. The possibilities in being creative is simply endless.

2. Heart-Shaped Picture Frame - A heart-shaped picture frame is much more complicated to make and is ideal for older children and teens. To make a heart-shaped picture frame, you will need a hard board, cardboard scissors, ruler, glue gun, glue, string or yarn, red art paper, red twine paper, bright colorful glitters or red buttons or red sequins, some bright-colored paint, a paint brush, pens, and a photo of the person to whom you will give the heart-shaped picture frame to. Start by cutting one heart-shaped hard board and one heart-shaped cardboard. Next, measure at least an inch from the side of the heart-shaped cardboard and draw a heart inside. Cut out the inner part so you will have one cardboard heart with a hole in the center. Then, color and decorate your hard board heart and the heart with the hole in the middle with paint, glitters, red buttons, and other trimmings. Then, when it is good and dry, measure and cut the photo of your parent, sibling, friend, teacher or doctor in such a way that it will fit onto the hard board heart when you glue it. Once it is glued, attach the front frame or the card board heart with the hole in the middle onto the board with the photo by carefully applying glue on the edge and making sure it is sticking together before moving it again. Once it is glued together, attach a piece of yarn or string at the back. Now your heart-shaped picture frame is ready!

These are only two easy and cost-friendly projects that anyone can make on Valentine's day for their loved ones. A handmade valentine craft like the valentine's card and the heart-shaped picture frame may be simple and cheap. But as long as your card or picture frame shows to its receiver what it is supposed to show - and that is love - you should be all set for the Happy Heart's Day!
