Valentine's Craft Ideas for the Woman in Your Life

Karen Fifelski

Ok guys, let's face it, women LOVE Valentine's Day. It really doesn't matter what you do for her through out the year, this one day will either be your saving grace or your ticket to "lonely-ville". So, what is a man in love to do? Flowers? Chocolate? Perfume? No, no and no. Don't get me wrong, these are all great places to start, but your woman is going to be so much more grateful for something that you actually put thought an time into.

While women today still love to get flowers, but they appreciate them more if they are completely unexpected, and let's face it, on Valentine's Day they are kinda sorta expected. However, if you want to blow her socks off, make her something. You think you aren't crafty? Even better. Guys, this doesn't have to be something that takes days or even hours to put together, it just has to show that you are thinking of her.

A picture of the two of you on a romantic vacation, matted, personalized and framed will surprise her every time. If you don't have a photo, how about a menu from the restaurant where you had your first date, your first kiss, or even better where you proposed, again in a nice frame will win her over every time. Extra points if you can remember the date and include that in the gift. Trust me on this one.

Another idea that is sure to win her heart is to cook for her. While some may not consider cooking a craft, it does count, especially if you don't do it often. The trick here is to cook her something that she likes, you make want hamburgers or chili dogs, but if this is not her thing, don't make it. Go out on a limb with this one, make her something from a cooking channel website. Don't forget to include a table craft with this one. Here is where flowers are totally appropriate, but best if you arrange them yourself.

When you embark on the journey to make the perfect Valentine's craft for your wife or girlfriend, you need to get in touch with your feminine side a little. While this may sound slightly scary to some men, the payoff will be SO worth it. If you find yourself down to crunch time and you want to make her something, go for the handmade, with love card. No woman can resist a Valentine's day card that you made yourself. But don't copy store cards.

If you are going to craft your own card, the key is to use your own words. This doesn't necessarily have to be sappy or mushy, but does have to be heartfelt and true. Trust me, she will know if it isn't. A picture on the card is a good touch, maybe a pressed flower or some other special memento from sometime or somewhere that the two of you spent time or share a memory.

A great thing about making Valentine's crafts for your woman is that she is going to love it (almost) no matter what you do. If you need something simpler than these suggestions, go back to your child hood. Remember back to when you were a kid and you would cut out a big heart shape from a piece of paper and decorate it. This same basic idea will still work today, but you will need more than lace and glitter now.
For this craft to really work, you will need a theme for it. Think along the lines of what you love about her, places you want to visit with her, things the two of you have in common. About the lace and glitter, go ahead and add that too, just don't count on them to carry the whole gift for you.

What ever you type of Valentine's Day craft you decide to make for her, just be sure to remember that it is for a girl and that you will be rewarded for it.
