Love in Many Languages
This Valentine's Day bulletin board teaches students about culture and other languages. For this idea you will need to cover the bulletin board with butcher paper. You will also need red, pink, and white construction paper, scissors, glue, glitter, and markers. Start by creating a list of languages, and allow each student to pick one. As homework, elementary kids should research how to say love in their chosen language.
Then provide students with supplies to make valentines. Help them cut the paper into hearts. They can use several different pieces of paper to decorate their heart shaped valentines. When they are done with the valentine, help students write their word on the center of the heart. Trace the word with glue and add the glitter. Hang all of the completed projects on the bulletin board in celebration of Valentine's Day.
Box of Chocolates
Another creative bulletin board that elementary school students will enjoy is themed with a box of chocolates. For this project you will need red and white butcher paper, scissors, a pencil, brown construction paper, and puffy paint. Start by covering the bulletin board with the white paper.
Hand out the brown paper, scissors, pencils, and puffy paint to elementary students. Instruct students to cut their paper into the shape of a piece of chocolate. Then help students write their names on the chocolates with the pencil. Trace the names with paint. Allow elementary school kids to decorate the chocolates with the paint as well.
While kids are creating their chocolates, use the red butcher paper to create a large heart. Attach it to the bulletin board. When students are done, with their part of the project, add the chocolates to the big heart box. If all of the pieces do not fit feel free to place them outside of the box.
Valentine's Day is a happy holiday, and these bulletin board ideas will make elementary students happy to create. Try these ideas this coming holiday to get elementary students involved in Valentine's Day.
