Valentine's Day Crafts for Children

Eleanthe Anderson
Valentine's Day is coming soon, and what better way to celebrate than to make some Valentine's Day craft projects with your children? Kids love to make crafts, especially when you work on them as a family. There are many low-cost valentines' projects that are fun and easy. Make lots of valentines, and send them to friends, neighbors, and family. They will appreciate getting a handmade valentine, and that will allow your children to make lots of them.

Valentine's Crafts for Children: Paper Valentines

One year that I was in elementary school, I remember being especially excited about making Valentines. We used red and pink construction paper, white paper doilies, and foil. After cutting out hearts and creating fanciful valentines with any number of frilly layers, we would agonize over who got each one. Of course you could not give the fanciest ones to boys! What would they think? Nowadays there are so many great papers on the market. Just pick out a few pieces of scrapbook paper for your valentines, and look around the house for ribbons, scrap paper, buttons, glitter, and just about anything shiny. Help your children to cut out hearts in all different sizes, and let them glue to their hearts content.

Valentine's Day Crafts for Children: Chocolate Lollipops

Chocolate lollipops are a fun treat to make with children for any holiday, and Valentine's Day is no exception. Look for a kit, or make a trip to a local craft store. You need a mould, sticks, chocolate melties, and little bags to put over the top. All of these things are cheap, and the whole project should cost about ten to twelve dollars if you are a smart shopper. You just melt the chocolate in the microwave, pour it into some Valentine's moulds, and insert the sticks. When they have cooled, you wrap them and they are ready to go. Now you have chocolate Valentines for your friends - a great treat.

Valentine's Crafts for Children: Wall Art

Plastering my walls with my children's art is always fun, and Valentine's Day is no exception. Help your children to make giant hearts, on which they can write or recite a list of all of the people and things that they love. Ask them to name their favorite food, candy, friends, pets, et cetera. This will be a nice keepsake of their childhood, and help you remember a lot of things about who they are as a person at whatever age they are at. You may learn a thing or two about them as well, and the project will help decorate your house for Valentine's Day.

These are just a few fun children's crafts for Valentine's Day. The most important thing is to spend Valentine's Day having fun and sharing your love.
