Valentine's Day Crafts Made with Candy

Amy Brantley
Any holiday is the perfect excuse to make crafts. Even Valentine's Day is a wonderful time to make crafts because they can be given as gifts to your partner and we all know that homemade gifts mean more than store bought. But, have you thought about making Valentine's Day crafts with candy? We all over indulge at Valentine's Day and buy a ton of candy that we'll never be able to finish, so why not take some of that candy and make Valentine's Day crafts with it? Unfortunately most of these crafts will not be edible, but they can be romantic and they can also be whimsical. These Valentine's Day crafts are also very easy to make and can easily be done by kids, but adults will also enjoy them.

Valentine's Day Crafts Made with Candy #1: Cards

Making Valentine's Day cards with candy is so much fun. Kids will really enjoy this craft because they can eat part of the craft supplies. To make this craft you will need the following craft supplies: card stock, a red marker, glue, and candy. You can choose whatever Valentine's Day candy you want, but I highly suggest conversation hearts or Red Hots shaped like hearts. To create this craft you need to first decide on a message for your Valentine's Day card. If this is for your partner, choose a romantic message like "This card is truly sweet, but not nearly as sweet as you are." Next arrange the candy around the border of the card, before actually gluing them down. Once you have decided how you want the candy to be arranged, pick up one piece at a time and apply the glue. This will keep your arrangement in tact rather than having to start all over. Once you are finished gluing the pieces down, allow the card to dry and then it's ready for presenting.

Valentine's Day Crafts Made with Candy #2: Candle Holders

Who doesn't love candles? At Valentine's Day a home should be filled with candles because they are so romantic. This Valentine's Day craft takes the romantic side of candles and adds a whimsical touch with the addition of candy. To make this Valentine's Day craft you will need the following supplies: clear votive candy holders with tall sides, small white votive candles, and Red Hots candy shaped like hearts. To make this craft simple pour the candy into the candle holder and add the candle. As the candle burns and the wax drips onto the candy, the smell of cinnamon will fill the air. The candy makes these candles so cute.

Valentine's Day Crafts Made with Candy #3: Party Favors

Who doesn't want to leave a party with a party favor, especially one filled with candy? This Valentine's Day craft is not only filled with candy, but it also has candy on the outside. Now it may take a little bit of time to find the craft supplies for this project, but its well worth it. For this Valentine's Day craft you will need the following supplies: fabric with conversation hearts on the outside, thread, needle or sewing machine, silk cord, and of course candy. To make this craft all you need to do is cut two pieces of fabric that are the same size. I suggest cutting two rectangular pieces about 6 inches long. Place the two pieces together with the outside of the fabric facing inward. Next take a needle and thread or sewing machine and sew the two long edges and one of the short edges. Leave the other side untouched so that you can fill the bag. Place the cord at the top near the edge that was not sewn shut and then fold the edges down around the cord. Sew the fabric around the cord being careful not to sew the bag shut. When that is down flip the candy bag right side out and then fill with candy and pull the bag closed and tie the cord in a nice bow.
