Valentine's Day Crafts: Paper Heart Wreaths

Here Are Some Easy Valentine's Day Wreaths You Can Make from Paper!

Dress up your front door, your windows, your walls and even your refrigerator with some decorative Valentine's Day wreaths that you make from paper. These wreaths are all very easy to make so they are a good craft to do with the kids.

Simple Paper Heart Valentine's Day Wreath (see sample image here)

This is a simple wreath that is a fun family project. Cut out heart shapes and let each member of the family decorate their heart however they like. You can also let your kids decorate hearts for extended family members who are not available to decorate their own. Or, if you want the wreath to truly be original designs by each family member, send the hearts in the mail with instructions as to what they should do (write their name, color with markers, etc.) and include a self addressed stamped envelop for them to send the heart back to you for your wreath.

The size of your finished wreath will be determined by the size hearts you use. Therefore, it's best to design your wreath first, then form the wreath base after. Just line the hearts up in a circle, overlapping each heart a bit. Once you have your wreath shape, attach the hearts where they overlap using double stick tape or a glue stick.

When all the hearts are attached, turn the wreath over and form a more sturdy base by gluing a wire or cardboard circle to the back of the wreath. You can even use popsicle sticks or drinking straws to form the base. Just glue them all around the wreath until you have a sturdy base for hanging.

Funky Paper Heart Valentine's Day Wreath (see sample image here)

This is another fun paper wreath you can make as a family. Have everyone cut out different size heart shapes from different colored paper. You can use plain paper as seen in the image, or make it even more funky by using printed paper like wrapping paper or magazine pages.

When all the hearts are cut out, form a wreath using the method described in the first example. If you are hanging the wreaths in windows, you do not need to form a sturdy base on the back. Just glue the overlapping hearts and let it be pretty from both sides!

Paper Heart Star Valentine's Day Wreath (see sample image here)

The image you see when you click the sample link above is really a stained glass wreath, but you can easily copy the design and make it with paper. To make the wreath, you will need eight large red hearts and 8 small white hearts (you can make whatever color hearts you want).

Arrange the hearts as seen in the image and you will end up with a star shape in the center. Secure the hearts with double stick tape or a glue stick and make a base as directed in the first wreath above, if desired.
