Valentine's Day Crafts: Turn an Old Deck of Cards into a Booklet of Romantic Messages

Save Money This Valentine's Day with the Best Gift Ever

David Farrell
If you are looking to save money this Valentine's Day, here is a unique Valentine's Day craft you should at least consider. This Valentine's Day craft is a great way to recycle an old deck of cards and let your Valentine know you care at the same time.

For this Valentines Day craft, you will need:

Deck of cards that is nicked

Hole puncher

Two one-inch binder rings

Card stock, plastic, or cardboard for the book covers.

Paper and glue, or adhesive labels

Pen, or colored pens if desired.

Valentine craft step #1: Prepare the cards for the Valentine's Day Craft:

To start this Valentine's Day craft, punch two holes in one of the cards. Use this card as a guideline for the other cards so the holes are in the same location. If you don't have a small hole puncher, a standard one will work. You may or may not be able to punch a hole in more than one card at once, depending upon the sharpness of the hole puncher and how hard you squeeze it. Don't worry as to which side of the card the holes are on. If you punch the wrong side, simply turn the card upside down to correct the problem.

Valentine craft step #2: Make the "book:"

Put all of the cards on the binder rings. You can put the cards in any order that you desire. As the deck of cards will not be used for playing, it is recommended to use a deck that has already a few nicks or tears for this Valentine's Day craft. Card decks are always wearing out and this craft is a great way to recycle a deck of cards.

Valentine craft step #3: Add the covers to the valentine book craft:

Cut out two rectangles that are slightly larger than the playing cards and punch holes in them as well. If the material for the book covers is ugly, you can glue paper or cloth to the outside for a nice book cover.

Valentine craft step #4: "Write the book:"

Write 52 love messages on the adhesive labels or paper. You can use colored pens if you want to be cute and fancy about it. Stick or glue a message on every card. You can also put messages or photos on the back of cards. Feel free to add variations to the Valentine's Day craft, such as having the queen and king facing each other, with pictures of you and your darling on the craft. To make cards face each other, turn the card upside down. The holes will then be on the opposite side of the card.

Valentine craft step #5: Add the finishing touches to the Valentine's Day Craft:

Put a nice title on the front cover of the Valentine's Day craft. It can be something simple and sweet, such as "52 reasons I love you" or "52 things that make me glad I'm yours" or something similar. Add any cover art, photos, or messages and the Valentine's Day craft is complete. Allow the Valentine's Day craft to dry if applicable, and you now have a unique Valentines Day gift that your darling will love that did not break the bank.
