Valentine's Day Cupcake Recipes

Tired of the same old candy and flowers for Valentine's Day? We have the answer for you in our Valentine's Day Cupcakes. Our recipe hails from the Better Homes and Garden Cookbook. We have adapted a Red Waldorf Cake into Valentine's Day Cupcakes. The reason we have chosen this particular recipe is because of its beautiful red and pink frosting, the typical colours of love.

For ingredients and measurements you will need to find the actual recipe, but we will give you a few details and pointers for making the cupcakes. It combines your favourite ingredient chocolate with a creamy sensuous frosting. The cupcakes offer an individual treat and a unique decorating idea.

Once the cupcakes have been baked, you will need to frost them. Then you can start on the real fun. You will require a platter for the design. You should have a doily that you will hold over the plate to create a pattern with powder sugar. In other words, when you lift up the doily you have a pretty design to place your Valentine's Day Cupcakes on. I like to arrange the cup cakes in a heart, which requires about eight cupcakes. The remaining four Valentine's Day Cupcakes are used to form an arrow through the heart.

After the design is in place, I take rose petals and artfully arrange them in and around my heart design. With melted chocolate or syrup I drizzle heart shapes around the edge of the platter. It works better with melted chocolate, as the syrup could run and damage your beautiful work. After all, you wouldn't want to have a "broken heart."

This is one way I have designed my Valentine's Day Cupcakes. I have also been more frivolous, rather than elegant. For example, I still make the heart design, but the three other cupcakes are placed inside the heart. A full heart makes for a lovely gift. Then I place Sweethearts candy on each cupcake. To further decorate the cupcakes, I use confetti cake decorations. The confetti lies on the platter, as well as the cupcakes.

A heart does not always have to be the design. You can decide on your own design that might have a special meaning for you and your Valentine. An example of this would be to create a ring with the cupcakes, until you have one large cupcake at the very top. An engagement ring design can make a lovely design.

The recipe can be made with a mixture of mini and regular sized cupcakes, if you wish. With miniature cakes you may offer your Valentine's to friends and family. Valentine's Day Cupcakes are a unique way to show your love for another person.
