Valentine's Day can be a tricky holiday not only for adults but also for their children. Most parents can remember back to those awkward years and now get to relive those times through their children. Spend a moment and review our Valentine's Day tips that will help your child have a stress free day.
- · If your child is passing out Valentine's Day cards, make sure that every student in their class receives one. This isn't a time to play favorites because feelings can be hurt and those feelings can last a lifetime.
- · If your child is adamant about not giving cards to certain people, you have two options. You can mail your cards to the selected few and not pass out anything at school or you can suggest that everyone gets a card but your real friends can get extra special cards that have a homemade flair to them - such as glitter or special stickers.
- · Most parents know that Valentine's Day is another candy holiday. Check with your child's teacher to see what the policy is on treats and proceed accordingly. If treats are not allowed, you can substitute with bouncy balls, stickers, colored pencils or crayons.
- · Valentine's Day cards can be homemade or store bought. Remember, it's the thought that counts so if you're crafty, help your child make special cards for their classmates. It's a good bonding time and will help stimulate the creativity of your child.
- · Don't forget to hand out a card to the teacher. Thanking them for all of their work is always appreciated.
- · While you are at it, why not make a couple of extra Valentine's Day cards for the grandparents and have your child write a personal message in them. This will brighten their day as well.
