Valentine's Day Flicks for Chicks

Look Out Guys!

Alyssa Branen
If your like me, and you have to stay in this valentines day, why not spend it eating some yummy chocolate or ice cream and making your significant other watch some GREAT chick flicks? Sounds like a plan to me! Here are a few of my personal favorites .

Love Actually, 2003. This romantic comedy follows the lives of eight different people and their complicated relationships and how they intertwine during the last few crazy weeks before Christmas. This is a great movie. Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Emma Thompson and Colin Firth are just a few of the people in this fantastic cast.

The Truth About Cats And Dogs, 1996 Uma Thurman and Janeane Garofalo

Pretty Woman, 1990. This is obviously a classic Cinderella type story that lots of women love. Granted, Julia Roberts WAS a hooker, but still. She was charming and won Richard Gere's heart.

Four Weddings And A Funeral, 1994. Hugh Grant stars as Charles, a man who is completely against commitment, until he meets the woman of his dream, Andy MacDowell. They end up running into each other throughout the year at four weddings and finally a funeral, before they actually decide to start seeing each other.

Beaches, 1988. THE ULTIMATE CHICK FLICK. Two women, one a poor little rich girl and the other a struggling entertainer share a bumpy friendship from childhood until adulthood. This is a real tear jerker.

Grease, 1978. The ultimate cheesy musical, starring Oliva Newton John and John Travolta.

Pretty In Pink,1986. Molly Ringwald stars in this 80's teen comedy about young Andy, a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, her geeky friend Duckie and Blaine, the hunky rich guy who has stolen her heart.

Dirty Dancing, 1987. No one puts baby in a corner, according to Patrick Swayze in this flick about summer romance, standing up to daddy and a lot of dancing.

Steel Magnolias, 1989. There is no possible way to watch this movie and not have a good cry during Sally Field's graveyard breakdown. This movie has an all star cast including Sally Field, Julia Roberts, Daryll Hannah, etc.

Ghost, 1990. Another Patrick Swayze flick. Also starring Demi Moore, this movie is about a man that doesn't take the time to really come out and tell his wife he loves her, until it is to late and he is a ghost and can no longer touch her and feel her.

Mermaids,1990. Starring Cher, Wynona Ryder, Christina Ricci and Bob Hoskins, this movie is about a sexy yet kooky single mother raising two young daughters, one of which is extremely religious and curious about the opposite sex.

Legends Of The Fall, 1994. This Brad Pitt flick is a love story completely full of eye candy, but along with that eye candy there is an extremely sad storyline.

Muriel's Wedding, 1994. For this movie the petite Tony Collete put on approximately 50-60lbs to play the chubby, insecure Muriel who just wants to get married above all else. That is all that matters, wearing that dress and getting married. star in this romantic comedy about a pet expert radio host who is asked on a date by an admiring listener.Self Concious as the radio host is, she asks a neighbor to pose as her on the date. She watches from a far and slowly falls in love with him. The only problem is that he doesn't know the real her.
