Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for Friends

Lisa Belle
Valentine's Day is sometimes known just as a holiday for lovers, but it's actually a holiday dedicated to all kinds of love: friendship, family love and romance alike. This year, commemorate Valentine's Day by giving your friends a small, holiday-themed gift. Here are just a few easy and affordable suggestions:

Homemade Cookies

Homemade cookies are a classic and much loved present because they're easy to make, fun to receive, and always appreciated. For Valentine's Day, you could make heart-shaped sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies with pink white-chocolate chips, or even Valentine's Day-themed cupcakes. Store-bought cookies are fine, too, and come in many colors, shapes, and designs

For each of your friends, put a few cookies on a red or pink plastic dessert plate and wrap in clear or pink cellophane. Your friends will love this simple gift, and you'll love all the hugs and smiles you'll get throughout the day.

Classic Store-Bought Valentine's

Do you remember the character-themed Valentines you passed out in school back in the day? Some came with stickers, some came with mazes and word searches, and some came with little heart-shaped lollipops. Drug stores still sell these fun Valentines, and for an old school present pass them out to your friends and family. Valentine's Day candy goes great with paper Valentines and they're easy to prepare and hand out.

Valentine's Day Candy Bags

Goody bags are another great Valentine's Day gift. They take a little work and a little money, but they're lots of fun. First, buy decorated cellophane treat bags with hearts or red and pink stripes; you can find these at Target or Michael's. Next, purchase several kinds of Valentine's candy, such as heart-shaped chocolates, red, pink, and white m&m's, and Hershey kisses. Put the candy in the bags, and pass out bags to friends, family, and colleagues for a fun V-Day treat.

Gift Cards

Gift cards for five or ten bucks are fun for your friends and not too expensive for you. Starbucks cards are popular, as are movie tickets and iTunes gift cards. Your friends will love this personalized Valentine's Day present, especially of you pick their favorite store.

I hope these ideas have inspired you to get your friends a small, thoughtful gift this Valentine's Day. No matter what you end up getting your friends, remember to be nice, have fun, and appreciate your life on this international day of kindness and love.
