The Classic Gift: Flowers and Chocolate
The safest and most traditional Valentine's Day gift is the classic bouquet of flowers and heart-shaped box of chocolate. This present is best for casual or new relationships, but if you give this gift you run the risk of seeming a bit, well, boring. So if you do decide to give flowers and chocolate, spice them up: find beautiful, exotic flowers at a florist boutique or Flowers.com instead of the blah pre-made bouquets from your local grocery store, and get gourmet, specialty and even gold-accented chocolate from a local independent chocolatier.
The Corny but Great Gift: Poem and a Hand-Made Card
One of the corniest but nicest gifts you can give to your beaux on Valentine's Day is a handmade card along with an original poem or song. The card doesn't have to be perfect, just colorful without too many frills, and the poem should be honest and maybe a little funny. This gift is great because it costs almost nothing to make but exudes love and care.
The Romantic Getaway: Dinner Cruise
For a fancy but affordable Valentine's Day experience, take your sweetheart on a dinner cruise. The simplest cruises include a gourmet dinner and a boat ride for the evening, and the nicest cruises offer private dinner rooms, live music, gourmet desserts and a night in the boat's suite. A dinner cruise is lots of fun and there are great options available for couples, groups, and families alike. Before giving this fun and elegant gift to your partner, make sure they aren't prone to seasickness and are okay with the idea of eating out on the water. You can find local dinner cruises and prices online: just Google "dinner cruise + your city".
A Gift of Commitment: Jewelry
If you and your partner are becoming serious or you want to re-affirm your commitment, get your lover some beautiful, high quality jewelry. With great options for females and males, jewelry comes in all prices, qualities, and designs you can imagine. If you want to save money, check out Overstock.com, EBay, or Craigslist to find the best deals on all kinds of bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and more.
The Ultimate Gift: Vacation
If you're lucky enough to have a few extra bucks this Valentine's Day, spend it on you and your lover and go on a fun vacation. Cruises are probably the best value for your money, and if you live on the coast there will be at least a few ports of call nearby. Check out Travelocity.com or Expedia.com to find great cruise and vacation deals.
I hope these suggestions have helped you decide what to give your lover this Valentine's Day. No matter how serious you relationship is with your beaux, remember to have fun and show the world just how much you care during this international day of love.

Post a CommentHomemade poem, eh? I shall give it a try!
I'd just flip for the poem and handmade card. One of my girlfriends who has been married several years always tells her husband she wants just one thing--a love letter! He groans, but always comes through. The most meaningful gestures don't cost a cent!
