Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for Pregnant Women

Valentine's Day will soon be here and you have no idea what gift to get your pregnant wife. Don't panic. Here are a few Valentine's Day gift ideas for pregnant women that are sure to make that special mom-to-be smile.

Maid Service: The ultimate Valentine's Day gift for a pregnant woman

If a pregnant woman can't bend over to tie her shoes, chances are cleaning chores are just as difficult. I can remember being 8 months pregnant and attempting to clean out my refrigerator. Unfortunately, my large belly made it difficult to reach all the way to the back of the bottom shelf I was cleaning. No matter how I tried to contort myself, I simply couldn't reach the spill in the back. Finally, I gave up and just put the shelf items back and prayed my in-laws didn't need to get into the refrigerator much when they came after the baby was born.

That said, purchasing a gift certificate to a maid service is a great gift idea for your pregnant Valentine. Have someone come in once or twice a week during the last few weeks of pregnancy to help with cleaning. Toward the end of pregnancy, we women tend to get into a cleaning frenzy (also known as nesting) and we want everything clean and tidy before the baby is born. Help your wife as much as you can and hire a maid to help with the rest.

Valentine's Day gift idea for pregnant Women: Pamper her!

Let's face it, carrying a child is no picnic. After a while, that big belly in the front makes things like tying your shoes quite difficult so treat your pregnant wife to a luxurious pedicure. Whether you do it yourself or send her to the spa for a little TLC, a pedicure and foot massage will show her you love her and will let her know that you hear her complaints about her aching feet. If you can afford to do so, consider getting a deluxe spa package because trust me, her feet aren't the only thing that is aching.

Chocolates are nice and if you can afford to pamper your wife with her favorite box of chocolates, then definitely purchase them for her. Valentine's Day is all about love and a decadent box of chocolates will satisfy her cravings for chocolates and let her know that you are paying attention to her favorite brands of chocolate after all. If she offers you one, decline. As my husband once said, "Nothing comes between a pregnant woman and food."

Jewelry as a Valentine's Day gift for an expectant mom

Jewelry is a nice gift for any woman, but for expectant moms, care should be given to avoid giving a ring for Valentine's Day. Pregnancy can cause fingers to swell and though you may know that your wife wears a size 5 ring, chances are the ring might not fit if she has a baby bump. If you always give jewelry as a gift on Valentine's Day, consider a nice, gold chain with a charm. If you know the sex of the baby, you can buy a boy or girl charm with their corresponding birthstone. If you are afraid baby will arrive too early or late for the birth stone of the anticipated birth month, buy both (you can return one later). You can always buy standard pink or blue baby charms if you can't afford to do so. Lockets are also very nice because once the baby is born, you can have their vital information engraved on the back and put a picture of your little one inside.

These Valentine's Day gift ideas for pregnant women come from my past experience as a pregnant mom. I wish I'd had the foresight back then to ask for maid service as a gift. Lesson learned.

I don't have anyone pregnant to give these too but they are fantastic ideas for gifts.

    How about a comfortable pillow?
The WondaWedge is an adjustable, inflatable triangular pillow with a permanently attached mat, that gives you three different sitting or reclining positions. Great while breastfeeding too!

I might have guarded my food like a dog guards his bone. Shanika - you can still do that. Just eat them in the bathroom and tell people you're busy in there ;) I eat a lot of candy when my hubby isn't home ;)

Smart ideas, especially the part about food. Man, the glory days - when I could actually devour 2 to 3 candy bars a day without anyone passing judgment.
