Valentine's Day Gifts for Middle School Boys

Lisa Riggs
Do you have a special middle school boy in your life? Are you looking for an excuse to offer him a token of your affection? While Valentine's Day is typically a more exciting holiday for the female persuasion, young males at this age appreciate a gift that shows how much they are loved as well. Surprise that special young man in your life with one of these gifts on the fourteenth of February to let him know how much you care.

Valentine's Day Snack Basket. Growing boys often have tremendous appetites. They love to eat and they especially love junk food. Fill a wicker basket with all his favorite snack foods. Give a nod to the holiday by including plenty of red colored cookie and candy items. A few apples or a bunch of cherries will ensure that he gets some nutrition along with all the goodies.

Spring Sports Equipment. Once the middle of February comes around, Spring is definitely within sight. If your special teen loves baseball or mountain biking, surprise him with a gift that relates to that sport. A new bat, ball, or a seat for his bike will definitely make his day. Include a holiday card with the gift that mentions how much you are looking forward to getting out there with him on the field or trail once the warmer weather arrives. He will surely look forward to the time spent together just as much as he appreciates the present.

Video Game. Most boys at this age would spend as many hours playing video games as their parents would allow. Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to surprise that special guy with a game that he has been on his wish list for months. Spend some time playing the game with him after it is opened. He will surely love sharing his skill with you and you love the time spent bonding over his favorite pastime.

Computer Accessories. Middle school students spend hours on the computer every day. For both schoolwork and for fun, the computer has become an integral part of this generation's daily life. There is surely an item or two that he has been wanting to make his laptop or desktop run a bit smoother or just make the time spent on it more enjoyable. Begin to ask some subtle questions concerning the topic a few weeks before the holiday, and seek out the guidance of a computer savvy friend, to ensure you get the right item and the best deal.

Teach Him a Skill or Share a Passion. This is not a gift that can put in a box, but it just may be the best one you can give him. Spend an afternoon in the garage or in the yard, sharing your special interests or passion. Whether it is woodworking, landscaping or gourmet cooking, he will definitely cherish the time spent together and remember this Valentine's Day for many more years to come.
