Valentine's Day Gifts for Nerdy Guys

Morningstar
Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and you may be in need of a last minute gift for you sweetie. However, just because it is last minute doesn't mean that your gift has to be an afterthought. Here are some great gift ideas if the person you need to buy for is what they call a "nerd". If your significant other has interest in video games, computers, and comic books, then these gift suggestions will be perfect.

1. TV Shows on DVD

A nerdy guy will love a boxed set of his favorite show. Think Reaper, Chuck, Dexter, or Heroes.

2. Anything Star Wars

If your beau is a true nerd than chances are he's a Star Wars fanatic. He'll love anything Star Wars. Invest in one or all of the movies on blu-ray disc, or buy one of the many books adapted from the film. Pick out a poster with his favorite character on it, or take a look-see in the toy section of your local Wal-Mart. They have a plethora of Star Wars toys! Yes, nerdy guys still play with toys! My husband, a die-hard Star Wars fan, was eyeing figurines of characters like Anakin Skywalker and Mace Windu. They are called Mighty Muggs. Each figurine has a contemporary, cartoonish look and will be a great addition to any collector's shelf. And each Mighty Muggs Star Wars figurine costs only $8.00!

3. Silly boxers or PJ pants

Find something practical that plays on your honey's quirky personality. Buy a pair of boxers with pictures of superheroes or Family Guy characters. Or look for a pair of pajama or lounge pants that feature the XBox 360 or Wii logo.

4. Video games

Each nerd is a gamer at heart. Buy a new video game for his favorite console. One popular game is the zombie-killing exhibition called Left 4 Dead. It is available for the Xbox 360 at a cost of $60.00. If you're unsure what games your sweetie is into or you don't want to buy something he already has, buy him a card for Wii Points or XboxPoints. He can "shop" virtually for a game he wants. Wii even allows you to purchase old-school games for the original Nintendo and Super Nintendo systems!

5. Anything technological

Depending on your budget, the possibilities are really endless. You can find anything from a USB flash drive for a few dollars, to a digital camera, or if you're rich, a MacBook. Check out bestbuy.com for the mother lode of technological ideas.

6. Comic Books

Search the yellow pages to see if your town has a comic book store. They sell comic books of all kinds of genres and even based on popular TV shows.

7. Action Figures

What is your guy into? Mine certainly loves wrestling. So I can't go wrong buying him the toy version of his favorite WWE star. You can find Transformers, GI Joes, and everything else under the sun.

8. Come from the heart

Remember, Valentine's Day is about being with your loved one and showing them that you care. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg. Make a card featuring his favorite character. Find clip art online and get some glitter glue. Make a card in comic book form. Nerdy guys appreciate sentimental things!
