Valentines Day Glitter Craft

Glitter Crafts with Kids

In my world glitter and Valentine's Day go hand in hand. Creating a Valentine's Day cards with glitter is a simple way to introduce your child to the world of crafts. You will be able to make several of the easy valentine's cards with your child in a short period of time. The result of this glitter craft is absolutely adorable.

You will need:

• Red, pink, or white construction paper
• Pinking shears
• Paper plates & bowls
• Elmer's glue (or other white glue)
• Heart shaped cookie cutter
• Red glitter
• Black magic marker
• Vinyl placemat (optional)

Take your construction paper and cut it in half. Then proceed to cut around the remaining edges of the construction paper to give your Valentine's Day card a deckled edge.

Place the cards on top of your vinyl mat. If you do not have a vinyl placemat on hand you can use a paper plate.

Pour a generous amount of glue on your paper plate. Spread it out in a sort of puddle. Place your glitter in a paper bowl.

Using the cookie cutter have your child dip their cookie cutter in the glue. Have them stamp the glue covered cookie cutter onto the card. Repeat if you would like to add more then one heart to your card.

Immediately have your child take the glitter and sprinkle it over the glue. Children tend to be pretty generous with the amount of glue that they sprinkle. This is okay because you can save the excess glitter by shaking the card when your child is done. Then take your placemat or paper plate and fold or roll it into a cone so that you can sprinkle the glitter back into the bowl for your child to use.

Allow the Valentines day cards to dry overnight and then write your Valentine's day message with black marker. Instead of just saying to and from you can add a creative, glitter inspired message such as "You shine Valentine," or "Thinking of you makes me feel sparkly." Get creative with your message and play off the fact that you made a unique and creative glitter craft for your Valentine.

LOL every time I see glitter I have to laugh. I made a comment in an article about where glitter really came from (faerie poop) and it's haunted me every since. Great craft related article, hope you get some sweet hits on it when Valentine's Day rolls around!
