Valentine's Day, Go Away

Stacey Doyle
Valentine's Day, go away,

I'm not in the mood to play.

Real love continues to elude,

Phony suitors attempt to delude.

Looking for starry-eyed love?

You know what you can shove?

Candy, cards and smelly roses,

Images of Eskimos rubbing noses.

Crowded, awkward dinner dates,

Unlikely, desperate Valentine mates.

Just longing to become half a pair,

Any warm body pretending to care.

Who needs all this crappy strife?

I've already got a beautiful life.

When love finds its way over to me,

It will be about what I feel, not what I see.

Love doesn't need a commercial day,

To let me know it's here to stay.

Be quietly there when my mood is dark,

A simple moonlight walk in the park.

Have your own life and don't crowd me,

Honor the earth, moon, stars and sea.

Losers be gone and need not apply,

After all this, I can't believe you ask why!

Now shove those gifts where the sun don't shine,

It takes a helluva lot more to make you mine!
