Whether you're in a couple and looking to get closer to that certain someone during a fright flick, or a brokenhearted single hoping for blood and gore, these Valentine's Day Horror Films are just the thing for you on Valentine's Day.
So let's get down to the list...
1.) My Bloody Valentine
You have your choice of the two current theatre releases, the old classic and the new re-release in 3D; or the uncut DVD release featuring roughly nine extra minutes of footage. I don't understand why anyone would go the theatre and pay $10 to see the 2D release when right around the corner for $2 more, you could see it in 3D, but that's just my opinion.
2.) John Carpenter's The Thing
There's nothing like hairy men in the Arctic to put you off love if you're single.
3.) Friday the 13th
Remember Jason doesn't abide sex or drugs, someone always dies whenever either of these occurs.
4.) Phantasm
This 1979 classic o' horror by Director Don Coscarelli tells the story of a group of young kids fighting against a grave robber.
5.) Sleep Away Camp
Spend the night watching all of three of them with your girlfriends or your better half. Like all great horror films, this one is filled with kitsch and cheese factor.
6.) Carrie
This kills two birds with one stone, you get the benefit of all the gore and strangeness of the great original Carrie film, but you can also indulge a love of bad movies with this pick as well by watching Carrie 2: The Rage, and the TV remake. You can purchase all three in a box set at Wal-Mart for like $15. Now how cool is that?
And the great thing about Carrie is it has all the essential of a classic Valentine's Day Horror Flick: young love, sluts, unrequited love, revenge, a psychotic religious parent, and pigs blood.
7.) The Serpent and the Rainbow
Wes Craven's 1988 film The Serpent and the Rainbow is a great choice for you if you're a Zombie fan (and who isn't really, right?)
8.) The Prince of Darkness
Another John Carpenter film, this one satisfies those who like ecclessiastical horror flicks (okay I made that up, but you know what I mean). If you like The Omen and Rosemary's Baby, this one is a good pick for you.
9.) Candyman
For your Valentine's Day viewing pleasure, try the 1992 film Candyman based on Clive Barker's story. This film features Virginia Madsen (from Sideways) and pays tribute to all things disgusting and disturbing.
10.) I Spit On Your Grave
This is the perfect film for jilted and embittered women on Valentine's Day. This 1978 film tells the story of a young woman who exacts revenge on several men who have tormented and brutalized her in unimaginable ways.
11.) The Last House On The Left
Another Wes Craven Film. This 1972 feature is a good suspense movie to watch with a boyfriend or girlfriend.
12.) Cannibal Holocaust
Saving the best for last, I'm guesstimating this one to be the goriest of them all (I don't have an actual blood and body tally to go by), but I feel it's a good assumption. If you're going to watch this one definitely make it the main and final feature of the night.
If some of these were already on your Valentine's Day viewing list, then that just confirms that they're great Valentine's Day Horror Films. And if some of them weren't on your list, give them a try, I think you'll like them.
Happy Valentine's Day. Enjoy.

touche. most definitely fake, but it works I guess.
"this is quite easy when the woman is terrified."
Ya think? Do most women really get terrified but this stuff? Or is it just easy to fake the fear to get closer?
Great way of representation.
"They want to see love trampled, slashed, blown up, killed, buried and then dug up and killed again." I must be weird then. I'd much rather hind in an underground bunker on Valentines day, than look at gore if I were single.
