Romantic dinner...at home
To really go all out for this one you'll need to get him out of the house for most of the day. You can let him in on what you're doing or lie through your teeth, just as long as he's out of your way. Personally, I'd tell my guy that I was planning a surprise and needed time to set up. That way I could guarantee myself enough time to get everything ready. Ask him to bring a change of nice clothes with him and insist he "pick you up" for your date ready to go (after all you'll already be at the restaurant.)
Once you're alone its time to set the stage, put a nice tablecloth on the table and set two places with your best china. If you don't have formal dining gear, ask around. I'm sure you'll find someone who can let you borrow it for the night. Now depending on how comfortable you feel in the kitchen the next steps can be combined or done separately and in no particular order. You need to make dinner and get gorgeous. For dinner prepare your specialty or his favorite; you can also find something new by asking around or going online. on glamour magazines website there is a recipe for what the call "engagement chicken" it is so delicious and moist when it comes out of the oven and some would say its good enough to propose over. As for yourself, you want to dress up like you would for a night on the town. Style your hair and apply your makeup with as much attention to detail as you can. Remember your first date? Remind him why he fell for you.
Time everything so it all comes together right around the time your love is supposed to arrive. When he comes in to get you, smile and escort him to his seat. Serve drinks and maybe salads or an appetizer, you want to make him feel like he is at a five star restaurant. Note: small details such as a bread basket and meal courses really bring it together. Most importantly enjoy yourself and your hot date.
Get him something shiny
No, not a car! Usually when you think f jewelry you think of women's necklaces and rings but why not get him a nice watch or a pair of cufflinks. You don't have to get him a Rolex, although it's awesome if you can. A lot of stores have dramatically reduced their prices in an effort to make sales so your sure to find a bargain at the mall or online. Try Fossil for nice watches that cost between $150-500. Attempt to find him something special, something he'd never really buy for himself. He sure to be surprised by your thoughtfulness and he'll think of you every time he wears them.
Pamper your love... and yourself
Spa days are another example of something usually reserved for women but think of how relaxing it would be for you and your honey to share a Jacuzzi tub filled with bubble until its time for your hour long side by side couples massage. It's sure to put you both in a good mood while making you limber for later. For a cheaper alternative try turning your bathroom into your own personal getaway. Put candles everywhere and use bubble, salts, and fizzers to your hearts content. You may need to take turns in the tub but at least you can get some time to relax and wind down.
Chocolate covered lovers
Painting with your fingers is fun. Painting your lover with edible body paints is naughty fun. I found a great recipe online for making your own at home. After you have an assortment of colors and flavors get creative. Paint everywhere and have fun cleaning each other up. If you're worried about the mess lay out an old sheet and get playing.
Sexy lingerie
If its last minute and you're strapped for ideas there's always the classic stand by: lingerie. Personally I say we're mighty lucky that guys are so easy to please. No matter the occasion your man will always be pleased to see you in sexy lingerie. Treat your man and yourself to a sexy new pair of underwear. Try wearing them under your normal clothes and letting him sneak peaks throughout the night; when the time is right strip slowly so he enjoys his present (you) and your wrappings for as long as he can.
