Valentine's Day will be here before you know it. Teachers are always on the lookout for new ways to incorporate holidays into their daily lesson plans. Love is all around us. It is in the air we breathe.
Teachers can find lesson plans within these activities and make them their own.
Shaving cream art is fun and inexpensive. Red food coloring added to the cream gives it a magical new appearance. Preschoolers can create beautiful hearts or beautiful designs. The options are unlimited.
Bubble art is fun and creative. Red food coloring can be added to the soapy liquid to make the bubble red in color. Children will love to enjoy watching red bubbles float in the air. Children can catch the bubbles onto white paper or even a white T-shirt. It will create a whole new expression of beauty.
Teachers can draw a large heart on pink or red construction paper. The students can decorate the hearts with Valentine's Day stickers. They can either fill in the hearts or follow the outline. Inside the hearts, the students can personalize their creations with their names and a photograph.
Preschoolers can create beautiful hands into hearts with red or pink finger paint. This is cute and easy to do. Just remember that this is very messy. The palms of the hands will be touching as the hands and fingers come together in a point to create the heart.
A pocket of kisses is a shirt pocket filled with Hershey's kisses. Parents or even teachers can cut the pocket from flannel or old plain T-shirts. Alphabet stickers can be used to personalize the pocket with their names. Preschoolers can decorate them as they wish. This is a sweet idea.
These lesson plans help teach motor skills while learning about love and the history of Valentine's Day. Each lesson plan requires adult supervision. Learning can be fun, and these will be extremely messy. Parents need to pack old clothing to school when these lessons are being taught. The results can be given as gifts to their mothers or grandmothers.
As the children are creating these activities, sing a song to further teach them about the holiday of love. The lesson plans can be changed to fit the individual needs of preschoolers. Children are very lovable, and they love to their love back.
