Valentine's Day Party Games for Preschool Children

Valentine's Day can be fun for preschool children as well as their teacher. Preschool children usually have short attention span so they need easy games to play quickly. If you are in search of Valentine's Day party games for preschool children, here are a few ideas suitable for the age group.

Fishing Game

One of the many Valentine's Day party games children love is fishing. You can buy little toy fishing poles or make one out of wooden dowels with a piece of string tied on the end. Use an empty plastic container for your fishing hole and cut little red hearts out of construction paper or card stock to be the fish. Glue magnets on the poles and fish. Let kids fish for prizes like candy and plastic hearts. Allow them to catch one fish.

Valentine's Twenty Questions

Encourage thinking with a Valentine's Day Twenty Questions. You may wish to play this before the other Valentine's Day party games so the children will be fresh. The teacher thinks of an object like heart or Cupid. The children guess what the teacher is thinking by asking questions. Give tiny clues if kids show boredom. Whoever guesses the correct object starts the next round.

Balloon Game

Preschool children like brightly colored balloons. You can play a nice Valentine's Day party game with them. Make a heart target out of cardboard and place it on the floor. Have several heart targets on the floor if desired. Give the children balloons that are blown up but not tied. Instruct the children to let go of the balloon and see where it lands. Enroll a couple of adults to blow up balloons because kids will want to play this game repeatedly. Baskets also make good targets.

Many classic games can be turned into Valentine's Day party games. Instead of "Simon Says", play "Cupid Says". Make "Duck, Duck, Goose" into "Cupid, Cupid, Goose". Another favorite is "Pin the Tail on the Donkey". For Valentine's, have the children play "Pin the Heart on the Cupid". Hang a big picture of cupid on the wall. Use adhesives on the back of paper hearts and let the child stick the heart on cupid while blindfolded. Kids will enjoy these Valentine's Day party games. Be sure each child takes something home.

Nice ideas. My two six year old would love these.

Cute ideas! :) Just one thought - as opposed to having someone blow up the balloons, try a bike pump or the like. Balloons tend to be... spitty, for lack of a better word, when someone physically blows them up. I can just see the rain of spitlet coming down!
