Valentine's Day Party for Preschoolers

PamIam
Valentine's Day is a lot of fun, especially when your young. Invite your preschool child's friends to join your child in celebrating Valentine's Day. This article will guide you through each step of the way.

Invitations
Break out the glitter, paper doilies, and card stock and go to town. A Valentine's Day party's invitations are possibly the easiest them to make yourself with preschool aged children. Handwrite the Valentine's Day party information or print out information off the computer to attach. Make sure to let your guests know to bring Valentine's Day cards for an exchange.

Decorations
Think reds, pinks, purples, silver, gold, and white for colors for your Valentine's Day party. The shade of colors can offer a lot of variation. Use Valentine's Day colors that are either bright bold, pastel, neon, or glittery to set different tones for your party. For example, your boy may not be interested in anything that involves sparkly glitter. Valentine's Day decorations are available inexpensively and abundantly all over from places such as Target, Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, and Oriental Trading. Colored table cloths, streamers, and balloons bring a lot of color for not a lot of money. Valentine's Day colored strips of paper can be glued in to loops to make your own garland.

Food
Carry your Valentine's Day party colors over in to the food. A big bowl of red or pink punch tastes great and makes a great centerpiece. Red food coloring can be added to make any food fit for your valentine. Would you rather avoid using food coloring? There are many naturally red foods that can be used such as strawberries, cranberries, tomatoes, cherries, and pomegranate. Available in many forms, such as juices and jams, these foods can be used in a variety of ways. Use Valentine's Day cookie cutters to not only make Valentine's Day cookies but Valentine's Day sandwiches as well. Heart shaped silicone bakeware is available for shaped cupcakes and cakes. Valentine's Day wouldn't be complete without a selection of sweets. Try making your own candy. Valentine's Day is likely to be chilly so hot treats such as pastries, cinnamon buns, and hot chocolate will be a big hit.

Activities
Plan on having a Valentine's Day card exchange. Kids can decorate a container to hold all their Valentine's Day cards at the party. You can decorate something as simple as a paper bag or as unique as a cardboard mail box. Depending on the exact ages of the children and what type of mess your willing to deal with, choose your decorating supplies. Stickers and crayons will be less mess than say paint and glitter. Have fun with whatever you choose to use. Free Valentine's Day crafts and activities can be found online at web sites such as Enchanted Learning.

Favors
Having a favor to take home is always fun. Kids will have their Valentine's Day cards and container to take home. Small foil wrapped heart candy and Valentine's Day stickers are a small fun addition to their Valentine's Day cards. Oriental Trading has a great selection of small toys perfect for Valentine's Day such as Mini Valentine's Day rubber ducks and smilie face heart balloon race cars.
