Dinner & Movie Party Theme
Allow the student body to nominate holiday movies to watch during a Valentine's Day party. This is half of the requirements for planning a formal dinner party at school. Narrow the nomination list down to 5-10 films that are appropriate to be shown at school. Make ballot sheets for students to vote on the movie that will be played at your school Valentine's Day party. Keep the list of options balanced to maintain fairness among the male and female student population. The phrase "Chick Flicks" may be expressed among some of the male students at you school. However, the majority vote should be counted when selecting a movie to play during this Valentine's Day dinner party theme.
Choose a menu that includes one main dish and two side dishes along with hors d'oeuvres and dessert. Serve water and sparkling cider or fruit punches instead of soda pop during your school Valentine party. Require that students dress in formal or semi-formal attire, which prohibits sneakers and jeans. Play a few Valentine's Day games or activities before and after dinner. Serve dessert so that it can be eaten during the movie for your school Valentine's Day party.
Dancing with the Stars Duo Competition
Assign three judges for a student-run Valentine's Day dance competition. Set a deadline for students to sign up and compete against each other for one 'Dancing with the Stars" champion title. Allow couples and friends to participate so long as the contestants are in pairs of two. The difference in this Valentine's Day Party theme for school is that contestants will perform a variety of dance routines in one night. Place tickets with various dance styles based on the "Dancing with the Stars" TV show into a bowl, box or hat.
Related dances include the Viennese Waltz and Samba but dance routines taught at your school can also be added to this Valentine's Day party theme. Instruct participating couples to randomly draw a ticket from the main basket. The ticket will determine which dance routine they have to learn before the night of your school Valentine's Day party. Require that each guest perform to an appropriate love song for their dance routine. Host the event in an appropriate room at your school where attendees can enjoy dinner and dessert without crowding the dance floor.
Introduce each contestant at the beginning of your party and start the competition immediately. Serve dinner after each duo has performed and give judges time to tally their scores for each contestant. Announce the winners after dinner and serve dessert while welcoming all guests to the dance floor. This Valentine's Day party theme for school would not be complete without holiday prizes. Give out gift baskets to the winners that include bath & body products, school supplies, candy and a Valentine's Day card.
