Valentine's Day Promotion Ideas for the Salon Professional

Now is the time to start working on your Valentine's Day Salon promotions. This is a prime opportunity to take advantage of a very popular holiday in the salon world. Because a lot of clients are stepping back from extra pampering, you must provide a lot of value through your promotions. Remember that value isn't necessarily a discount. Your added value can be something such as a gift basket, free product, or a free add-on service. Here are some ideas to get your started.

Valentine's Day Promotion #1

Promote salon gift cards to men by advertising something like "Forget the Candy... Give Her the Good Life." Offer a $100.00 gift card for only $75.00. You can even offer a free Valentine's gift basket free with any $100.00 gift card purchase. Fill the gift basket with product samples, a full size product and coupons. Place promotional flyers at typical men hot spots like the gym and the local coffee house.

Valentine's Day Promotion #2

Plan a "sultry sweethearts" day at the salon the weekend before Valentine's Day. Sell all-inclusive passes to the event. This means food, candy, drinks, a single rose for each client, candle-lighting, slow jams, decorations, and pure relaxation. For example, you can offer the pass to include: their choice of a spa pedicure or manicure, deep condition, scalp massage, scalp treatment and a basic hair style. You can even advertise the salon being closed for the all-inclusive event. This is an event your clients will not want to miss out on. Promote the pass to both men and women.

Valentine's Day Promotion #3

Promote a "sweet and single" night at the salon. Unlike the all-inclusive event above, this can be a way to target those single ladies of your salon. Think: slumber party at the salon. Have them come in their comfortable sweats and bring their girl friends. You can still provide a relaxing environment but focus on a less romantic ambiance. Promote it as a "pamper me" pass.

Valentine's Day Promotion #4

Partner with your local florist and offer a product and services giveaway at their business. You can leave entry forms and a bowl at their counter. In return, you can place give the owner a free hair color service. Make sure that every entrant wins something. Even if it is just $10.00 off their first visit, this can possibly attract new clientele.

As you can see, there are plenty of opportunities to bring in extra revenue through Valentine's Day promotions. Be creative and give plenty of value to the client. This can be a great opportunity to bring in new clients and pamper your existing clients during the slow winter month of February.
